The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...
The server will be getting hardware changes this evening starting at 10pm NZDT.
The site will be off line for some hours.
Its time to get the tomato and zuchini seeds going….also get the spring and early summer greens into the ground. Which means eviction notices for the chickens……..banned from total free range.
Amazing how much earth a determined chook can move eh?
Little horrors (dear sweeties) could probably excavate all the liquifaction in Chch….may send them south. Perhaps not, I would miss them (and their eggs).
Last road bike (Masi 3VC Hi Modulus carbon team edition) I managed to crush last Sunday. Thanks to the wonderful people at AMI Insurance I have a replacement S-Works Tarmac SL3 that I hope to get out on this weekend (weather permitting); plus kids taking part in the Duathlon at Taupo
Dreaming ….
Playing records on the wireless, wee bit of binge drinking, then some sleeping in.
Records? You spinning the black circles? I can see some vinyl in my weekend too, Lou Reed’s Berlin is just the ticket for snowy weather.
Alternatively, I could just make my self ill by repeatedly watching Ryan Nelsen’s worst ever foul. Er, fowl. This is why Blackburn are going down, kids.
As Laurie Anderson once said “this is the time, and this is the record of the time”.
But yeah, a few black circular ones in amongst the bit patterns.
Heading to Salzburg for the long weekend. First time travelling in a car since February. Exciting 😉
Be careful on those autobahns! Scary.
For myself, don’t know. Looks like I need to get serious about learning Python (a programming language). Or if the weather is fine I have some guttering that needs fixing.
Weather? Fine? This weekend?
Metservice for CHCH:
Sunday 14 Aug
Snow showers. Bitter southwesterly strengthening.
Monday 15 Aug
Snow showers, with strong bitter southwesterlies.
Tuesday 16 Aug
Snow showers. Strong bitter southwesterlies.
Saturday isn’t much better, either. Looks like the snow will be worse than last time – that was only one night and one day of snow, although it was quite heavy.
Yeah I know, I’ll bring some firewood in. But I still have great hopes for Saturday! They aren’t always right…
Python is fun. Quirky though.
I’ll look forward to it.
Paperwork!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrr.
But drinks tonight with mates, first of all 🙂
Server migration. Work. At least I have tonight off. Series 2 of Secret Army. I’m amazed at how much I didn’t pick up on when I watched it originally.
Aye VOR Blackburn look good for the drop, dunno about those seeds just yet bored, perhaps 7-8 sept unless your green housing them. For me those stumps are calling along with seeing how the first round of English perm games go.
I’d love to get my hands or at the very least eyeballs on some old NZ biz magazines, circa 80/90/00’s. Our library is not exactly a hotbed of commerce periodicals. Am looking specifically for NBRs and Independents if possible. If anyone has a stack or two of old mags and/or papers (Dominion and NZ Heralds) lying around that they wouldn’t mind rumaging through for me, please holler? Have dates, pages etc,.
If it’s not a huge list that you’re looking for, try posting it in Open mike one day. Might get a better response than the social thread.
Ahh thanks Rob, apparently I’m having a moment as I thought this was Open M!
No problem. Early in a week day would best…
Gah, stuck in Christchurch this weekend!
Also, based off the 3 day rain forecast on Metservice it looks like we’ll be getting more snow than last time, probably close to half a meter at worst 😀
And I’m so going to build a snow fortress/cave thing this time. Heck, it might even be warmer than the house.
Ain’t that the truth. Good ol’ Kiwi wooden tents…
I’m reading ‘First Stop in the New World, Mexico City in the 21st Century‘ by David Lida. Wow, what an amazing metropolis.
Today film Sunshine and Oranges .Make me glad im an atheist.
Sunday Labour Party Stall in Cambridge. Hope its fine weather,
