What next for Rodney?

The current Herald poll has the preferred ACT leadership at 61% in favour of Brash. Consider that result against a backdrop of Hide’s taxpayer-funded trips to Disney for his girlfriend, the Heather Roy debacle, the David Garrett fiasco, the constant, merciless undermining and treachery from Roger Douglas, perceived responsibility for Auckland’s Supershity, John Banks polling twice as well as Hide with Epsom voters – and ACT consistently polling well below 5%. It all sums to a realization that Rodney Hide is vote poison, leaving ACT’s leader unelectable and in need of replacement – just at a time when the far right are threatening to mount a new party to compete with ACT if Brash isn’t selected to replace Hide. Yes folks, the leadership of our very own Antipodean Il Duce will soon be swinging from a tree.

It leaves me wondering – what jobs are there for an unemployed Hide? I doubt he’ll be in the running for any plumb SOE chairs like Jim Bolger, and jobs at the UN are usually reserved for competent people. Jenny Shipley went in to the HR business and Mike Moore became a WTO lapdog.

But what next for Rodney?
