Havoc interviews Key on Crosby/Textor

Here’s some great audio of Key running Crosby/Textor lines to avoid answering Havoc’s questions. Around the half way point my personal favourite C/T line even makes an appearance: “I intend to run a positive upbeat ambitious campaign; I think it reflects my personality”. As Havoc observes “[John] you’ve spent the last nine months gaining New Zealand’s trust and now that it would appear we don’t know who’s talking”. Bingo.

UPDATE: Sounds like you and I might have been paying for Key’s use of Crosby/Textor too.

John Key: “The agenda of the National Party is the same as its always been.”

He’s not wrong there, but not what he meant to say I’m sure..

  2. Monty 2

I know you guys are totally obsessed with John Key and every word he utters, but I cannot see the problem with what he said – It was interesting Mikey try and look for some conspiracy – but I really think most people do not care. They just continue to be happy that National will infact be the government in 3-4 months. And the more the extreme left is obsessed with Key, hen the better hios chances of a massive Lanslide.

I mean – can you guys honestly believe that Labour will win this election, or are you (like Clark) in total denial?

  3. Pascal's bookie 3

    Monty! New!! Improved!!

Same talking points he’s always had but now with extra boring.

  4. T-rex 4

Monty, if it came down to us vs you Labour would have it in the bag.

Us vs Crosby/Textor is a bit more of a challenge.

You sound nervous though. Have you been watching videos over on 08wire?

  5. r0b 5

    Monty! New!! Improved!!

This is obviously some strange usage of the word “Improved” that I had been previously unaware of.

  6. ShonKey got a grilling and quite deservedly too!

  7. coge 7

Man, you lot love to shoot the messenger. How about a thread telling us your plans post election?

  8. T-rex 8

Same as my plans now coge. Only, as always, bigger faster and more awesome.

  9. Pascal's bookie 9

How about a thread telling us your plans post election?

Sure. I usually have a drink.

  10. coge. Both the Greens and Labour have a huge suite of ongoing policies, and they’re annoucing new ones all the time. And they’re real policies, not three lines of bullet points that English scribbled on the back of an envelope.

And Key’s the messenger? Then is the message “um, [sic], you know, I do condone, no I don’t condone, I have always condoned..”

  11. Tane 11

    Plans regarding what?

  12. vto 12

plans regarding plans I think ..

  13. Tane 13

    Oh, about the plans. Gotcha.

  14. Felix 14

And with a few more interviewers of Mikey’s abilities…

  15. Monty 15

Well – not as boring as post after post on John Key said this and John Key said that. But I suppose when you are 25 points behind in most polls then obviously what limited policy you do have is not capturing the appeal of the people, so the only option left is to attack Mr Key Key constantly – any focus polls from how effective this strategy is?

  16. KK 16

    polls points national win

Can you not do any better?

sounds like your vocab is about as comprehensive as key’s

  17. mike 17

Hey guys, how come the John Key hate blog no longer has poll results on it?

  18. higherstandard 18

    Tane now here’s a plan

    http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Image:Plan.jpg

  19. Tane 19

mike, mostly laziness on my part. is there a new one out?

    hs, awesome.

  20. mike. because tane does them and he’s been busy. and we prioritise content so we don’t have more than 5-6 posts a day, polls are low priority because they’re widely available elsewhere.

  21. coge 22

Nice one boys. So if Helen goes up in the polls, we will have to read about it elesewhere?

[lprent: If you want a news clipping service – go to scoop or whale. If I see too many more of these comments implying that posters should do X, then I’ll start doing Y (ie booting the ignorant pricks like you off the site for a while)]

  22. DS 23

“Well – not as boring as post after post on John Key said this and John Key said that. But I suppose when you are 25 points behind in most polls then obviously what limited policy you do have is not capturing the appeal of the people, so the only option left is to attack Mr Key Key constantly – any focus polls from how effective this strategy is?”

The point, Monty, is this. John Key may well end up as Prime Minister by the end of this year. If he wants to gain that august postion, however, the onus is on him to tell us what he would do. Not simply repeat a mantra consisting of a few slogans mixed with the occasional dog-whistle. At the moment all he is doing *is* sloganeering, which is why he is getting taken to task.

  23. mike 24

Steve, that sounds like a C/T line to me. Are you sure its not just because they are a little depressing?

Tane, yes the Roy morgon Poll in the weekend.

  24. Monty 25

And Steve – you forgot to mention that they are such bad news for Labour that most on the left now recognise thatt he election is lost and those who don’t are simply in denial. In the meantime John Key is filling halls and clubs throughout the country and people come to see the new Prime Minister. No Wonder with his positive outlook, People are supporting him to the hilt.

I don’t think Clark is capable of filling a phone box of supporters at this time – and who is surprised – all she seems to spew forth is bile and hate. However the country has woken up to her and the more she spews her hate and vileness the lower she sinks in the polls.

  25. T-rex 26

Steve – That page was just brilliant.

I love the Time magazine cover.

  26. mike. On the weekend standardistas wrote five posts that are scheduled for various times this week, there are another five or so that will happen after events take place, then there are the ones that respond to unpredicted events… we’ve already had 7 posts today and haven’t covered the biggest story, the 90 Day Bill, because the author of the post is too busy to finish it.

We’ve never covered each poll and if we’ve missed a couple recently, you can hardly say there’s been lack of content on the site.

I’m sure if you ask him nicely, Tane will find the time to cover the next poll.

  27. fraser 28

monty “most on the left now recognise that the election is lost….. ”

ok – lets be hypothetical and assume that this is the case (if i was a betting man i know where i would place my bet).

Dont you want to know what the truth is behind the words and intentions of the possible new government?

basically what im saying is forget clark, forget the “”youse are just bitter” lines, forget the “labour does it too” lines – lets get down to what could be a huge issue after the election – whats the truth behind those who might be the government?

Arent you the slightest bit concerned over perceived lies, mistruths, and manipulation of the electorate? – by any party?

would you be happy that when these perceptions arise about a party the party concerned refuses to come clean yet still asks for your vote? – under the guise of “”strategy”?

IMO this is the thrust of most peoples questioning of key.

  28. all_your_base 29

Given that we’re evidently mike’s preferred news source perhaps we should hit him up for a PayPal donation?

  29. Shooting the messenger eh? With whats been revealed in the last few weeks that messenger woudl be John Key…

  30. lprent 31

If you want a news clipping service – go to scoop. If you want something more irrational and bilious then try whales site.

However, if I see too many more of comments implying that posters should do X, then I’ll start doing Y. I’m the kind of nice friendly person who likes booting the ignorant pricks off the site for a while to contemplate.

You can always start your own site and find out how much work goes into writing posts with interesting commentary (rather than the kneejerk bile I see on some sites).

    Lynn
