      Hahahahahahaha!

The supposed incoming government is so incompetent they can't even come up with a PM on time.

Meanwhile today Rimmer and the angry skeleton do some weird dance in the face of the people of NZ.

Standby for a disastrous 12 months of the incoming pretend government.

It's only been since last Friday at 2pm that the final result was known so it's only been 7 days. Back in 2017 Winston took a lot longer to make up his mind.

What is he making his mind about this time? The two situations are not similar.

It took him nearly a month back in 2017 to negotiate the best deal for Winston. This time probably ensuring Act doesn't get a better deal than him.

I only have a cell phone to view this site. Last couple of days it has become unreadable, as I can't seem to bring up a cell phone screen. What do I need to do?

On the homepage of TS there is a message with a red background fill:

The mobile theme did not survive the update to WordPress 6.4. It is off until a solution is found.

I suspect that this means you do not need to do anything but be patient. Sorry about this.

I have no experience with this, but you could try to switch to the desktop version on your phone. It might be that you cannot use the Reply button, in which case you should include a mention of the comment you’re replying to.

Lprent is working on it: https://thestandard.org.nz/open-mike-10-11-2023/#comment-1976075.

Well I watched Ginny Andersen on 3 News tonight & she was sincere in expressing her belief that it's all a misunderstanding. They re-ran her i/v from AM which I hadn't watched today – nothing set off my bullshit detector. Said she knows the family & wants to meet with them to discuss/resolve the situation. Good luck to her on that.

However a 2nd complaint, from an electorate staffer this time, suggests all is not right somehow in her management procedures:

Labour is assessing whether to conduct a full investigation into the complaint. https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2023/11/staffer-made-complaint-about-ginny-andersen.html

This isn't important. Chris Hipkins continuing as Prime Minister is the story of the day, in case you hadn't noticed. You probably haven't noticed because you have been looking at yourself in the mirror.

Some of you may be wondering what John Oliver was doing in that elaborate Australasian bird costume.

Birding is more popular in the USA than hunting and fishing combined.

He was clearly touting for viewership (Last Week Tonight) after a 5 month break and doing so by reminding Americans of their summer birding tours – and doing it on the Fallon show, just made it blatant.

Fallon is behind Kimmel in the ratings (Kimmel's report of the dive bombing of Hawaii during the summer break was effective in getting him straight to the top of the ratings but Colbert is now in the lead) and Oliver is not even mentioned (probably because he is only allowed on once a week).

The tui is classier than the kea, or alpine thief, the kereru, or large drunkard.

The morepork and the kokako providing the competition.

The server will be getting hardware changes this evening starting at 10pm NZDT.
The site will be off line for some hours.
