  1. SPC 1

The Civilian can report that Air New Zealand has purchased Dreamliners made by Boeing and that POTUS Biden has expressed his love for Air New Zealand to its former CEO Christopher Luxon. Flying animals such as dragons have been symbols of required fealty to imperial thrones long before Air Force 1.

Having trains, ships and planes is a sign of being a 20th C nation state.

Leaders of nations having their own plane is a sign of imperial patronage – all those of the prosperity gospel have one, symbol of rapture elite status.

Dreamliners or A340 (A380 seen as too big)

I'm always inwardly relieved when my AirNZ or other airline method of transport is an Airbus. I haven't flown anywhere for 5 years now and have no intention of doing so in the near future. It's funny what advancing years does to one's sense of adventure. I must admit that the heaviest landing I experienced at Auckland was an Emirates A380, which was quite interesting to say the least.

My worst was landing in New Plymouth (winter, windy – doped up on flu medication) in a smaller plane (Friendship).

Mine was a turbo prop many years ago landing in Te Anau before walking the Milford Track. There was a storm raging and we were the last plane allowed in the air from ChCh. When we catapulted on to a sodden runway, we saw the previous turbo prop lying on its side at the end of the runway. The wind had blown it over. Nobody hurt thank goodness. Terrifying.

Friendship during a Wellington gale. Third time lucky after two go-arounds.

            Terrifying.

Stewart island…dropped out of sky …came in on a 45 angle. Great pilot, great place.

  2. SPC 2

Since Silicon Valley, the workplace has changed (both Y and Z).

For boomers and X, more the 20th C Friday night drinks at the RB and hooking up with POHQ staff at the dungeon bar (to deliver a message at midnight to the women in the enclosed room and pool of the Bathhouse on Willis Street).

More a monthly gathering, pre-paid girlfriends for a night, for the geeks.

But more recently social media has demonstrated another change. Tech geeks et al (everyone uses a device at work) – from the workplace that games together, to larping in the field (yes you, no right turn) – role play adventuring/orienteering for those who walk.

NZ please copy, before it's too late. These things should have been strictly regulated years ago.
