Ritualised apologies have become a trend in recent years. Political rectitude seems to be viewed by those doing them as a necessary con. The vital thing is to protect the abusers, so the ritual acts as as a fig-leaf to cover up the naked protection of those who suppressed the complaints of the victims. Left/right govts must maintain appearances.

Being genuine is just too hard for professional politicians, particularly when their duty is to protect dept heads who were asleep at the wheel. If these apologies were authentic, we'd get prosecutions of the guilty public servants who are still alive and a list of those guilty who are dead, so history could condemn their memories in perpetuity.

I predict we won't get any such real accountability. The ritualised Nat/Lab collusion sham will be maintained by the current govt & opposition. Wait & watch them…

Opportunist thieves take advantage of chaos.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said on Monday that Donald Trump’s election opens up an opportunity for an Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank and that he has already ordered his department to prepare for this annexation.

In a press conference before a meeting of his Religious Zionism Party in the Knesset, Smotrich said that “the time has come to apply [Israeli] sovereignty to the settlements in Judea and Samaria (the biblical term by which some Israelis refer to the occupied West Bank).”

    Boys are touched.

Friedi Kuehne and Lukas Irmler, two German slackline athletes, set a new world record by walking a slackline stretched between two hot air balloons at an altitude of 2,500 metres, surpassing the previous record of 1,900 metres set in Brazil in 2021.

Once up a time the Chinese had a one child family policy with tax consequences for more than one.

Russia is moving towards a tax on childlessness, banning abortion and expecting women to have children before going to university.

And it is to become a crime to oppose this.

Gilead in Russia, in lockstep with one led by Vance in the USA?

Women's rights movements seem to correspond with a drop in childbirth rates. For some reason they are choosing to enjoy life and do what they want.

Perhaps the men in those countries need to make more effort to be suitable partners.

Perhaps some countries should pursue policies that support families and empower the working class instead of treating them like cattle or cannon fodder.
