The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

" Children in ankle bracelets, the amputation of 5 Ministry’s and bitching about paying for your Nanas funeral, that’s what ACT stand for.
Oh and starting a race war.
Criminalising kids, eradicating Māori, Women, Pacifica, Youth and Ethnic Community political voice, starting a race war and trying to shortchange Nanas funeral.
That’s what you are getting when you vote ACT.
Let’s not pretend otherwise."
I thought Bomber did pretty well here.

Bomber had David Seymour on his podcast about a week ago. It seems reasonable to maintain speaking terms with political opponents but shows up a lot of his written rhetoric seems rather ott.
Bomber is better heard not seen…the cheese cutter and pipe remind me of Capstan Cork cigarettes..for some..reason.
Let me tell a little story and in doing so, I have to give some credit to Roger Douglas. Roger might be a lot of things we don't like but he wasn't a racist.
When ACT was set up in 1995, Roger was instrumental in hiring a group of full time Maori staff members whose job was to bring a Maori perspective to policy decisions. After a few months suddenly, and with no reason given, the Maori staff members were dismissed. I can only speculate as to what happened, but I suspect the
rich pricksbusiness tycoons who financed the ACT Party into existence discovered their presence and demanded they be sacked. So, every time I hear Seymour rabbiting on about ACT being a supporter of democracy for all NZ and not just a chosen few – the chosen few being Maori – I think of that occasion.
Anyone who thinks ACT is a genuine democratic-based political party is completely deluded.
One time while working in a gas station I filled up Richard Prebble’s big American sedan, his Samoan wife in the passenger seat
Christchurch city council gives big NO to intensification plans issued from central planning. The argument for intensification in CHCH does not hold well, with substantive available undeveloped land within the city. There are 46 hecatres within the 4 avenues a large part land banked by the government,a lot being empty since b4 the earthquakes such as the chch womans site.

Not to mention hundreds if not thousands of vacant sites in subdivisions within a 20 min commute of the CBD
Or the empty houses left empty since the EQ,or unbuilt housing on sites that were cleared easily in 4 figures in east alone.
Those too….housing shortage anyone?
The large build underway will put significant pressure on pricing as a lot coming into completion over next 3 months.
Suspect many will fall over well before they are developed
