We are not Sri Lanka…we dont do stupid things like ban syn fert overnight, we dont borrow offshore beyond our means, we dont have an internal conflict between between cultures. We are better and smarter than them.

Presumably, pat, you mean we are not so disadvantaged by circumstances than they are.

When I consider the unrepentant scoundrels that have so often found their way into power over NZ, and the wretched quality of their decisions… Sri Lanka may have the better of the bargain.

I wouldnt agree….our corruption isnt as blatant or debilitating (yet)

Not sure about – the Rogergnomes and their accomplices are as rude a pack of thieves of public resources as ever shamed a trusting nation. The only difference is a bit less melanin.

TBF, we don't habitually elect members of a kleptocratic clan, either.

State media talking head says it out loud: Ukraine has a million armed people, morale is high, and Russia is alone.

Nice to see western perceptions of russia's state media being completely controlled are so demonstrably false !!

good speech though the dude 's not quite right in every aspect ie Russia is not alone China knows if russia falls it will be next in line for uncle sams intentions not to mention india iran and other smaller countries .

Also ukraine's " high morale " is largely being generated by the states own propaganda imo the quantity and quality of which reminds me of germany in the 30's an 40's when almost everything told to the people was a lie .

Reminiscent of germany in that period as well is evidence of dissenters within the civilian population being picked up and taken away as potential 'traitors ' by Ukraine's secret service the SBU who monitor social media platforms and doubtless encourage informers !!

        so demonstrably false !

Nothing goes to air without the boss' say so. They're softening up the public for a volte-face by Poots.

        Russia is not alone

When your supposed support is slowly evaporating, you're alone.

        " high morale "

Google translate is your friend. Check Ukrainian language media. Winners are grinners and these people have a following sea and the wind at their backs.

        potential 'traitors '

It's a war. Spies, traitors and even potential traitors don't fare so well during times of war.

Cant say i was ever much of a fan of that situation with a following sea and the wind behind ! give me a broad reach anyday ! Still think the ukrainians are being bullshitted to .If u watch defence politics asia and you see the front lines changing everyday theyve been changing in the favor of the russians for quite some time . IMO its cruel to keep sacrificing people in this manner and whatever it takes i think ukraine should negotiate now before they lose anymore territory and lives .

Russia cannot lose…America has made a habit of it…but hey the defence' contract s/p is o.k.

        • Blazer 4.1.1.2

          Very good.

We must all die for the U.S dollar.

Germany cannot have a vital connection with Russia with Nordstream2…

lol never been into sport, but this odt article caught my eye.

Congrats to the NZ athletes performing well at the world champs. Pity the article doesn't mention which sport they play. Something with racquets and balls.

Not really overly interested, just a funny oversight by editors cutting so much that they omit an important detail.
