Here’s the segment on the English meltdown from TV One last night.
[I wanted to put up TV3’s as well – it’s good coverage, including interviews with KiwiBank customers – but I just can’t seem to deal with their flaky video stream (anyone else have problems with it?)]The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...
The server will be getting hardware changes this evening starting at 10pm NZDT.
The site will be off line for some hours.

Good grief. Three spurned opportunities to confirm his boss isn’t a dimwit?
I did like that “he’s a very loyal deputy” line from Key, too. I thought they were past the Blair vs Brown thing, but it appears not. This might get entertaining.

I can’t find any way of grabbing the new 3News video — it’s real-time streaming and there’s no file behind it to grab. I have complained personally to Mark Jennings that I can’t steal his video any more. It appears that wasn’t the intention, just an unfortunate by-product.
Yeah Tv3 Video site sucks it takes so long to load and you have to sit through their god awful promo/adverts first
“nows good” No it isn’ I want to watch this video piss off
There are over 600000 kiwibank customers National may have put many of them offside now. I say keep it Bill you’ll lose National the election in no time.
AYB, Russell – the folks who make this gizmo assured me last week that they’d have a version that would deal with capturing the underlying stream by sometime this week.
I presume they’re talking the 3.0 beta version, as I have the 2.30 version which doesn’t. I can confirm that most of the stream-capturing tools I use, including the usually ever-reliable WM Recorder, fail when it comes to TV3’s hideous coding.
Russell Brown: have you tried a product called “HiDownload” for capturing live streams on XP?
If you are on OSX a combination of Quicktime Pro/Flip4Mac & Downloader Helper works.
Oh my God, that’s hilarious. “It’s a complicated policy … well, it’s a complicated policy … you see, it’s a complicated policy.”
Which is basically answering “yes, John doesn’t understand it” and offering excuses. Maybe Bill’s gone a bits nuts – “If I can’t be National Prime Minister, NO ONE CAN, MUAHAHAHAHAHA!”
I was told today that they’re pushing that video out through an encrypted stream. Most capture software picks up multiple audio and sometimes multiple video streams.
Orbit 2.75 (just updated to it today) appears to be able to capture TV3 streaming video. Just tested it and it got the whole clip.
