I’m about to start sweeping the blogroll for dead or moribund sites over the next week. The general rule is that I mark sites private if the recent posts are inactive for more than 3 months (or I can’t read the site). If anyone wants to get their site added (or re-added) then use the contact-us form which I currently get a copy of at the moment until the site fully settles down.
Last night, I added a number of party sites after the Alliance Party requested that their site get put in. It was there already but linked to their dead blog. I even added the personal John Key site under its more common name (rather generous I thought).
If anyone has a WordPress site that is about to go moribund or die, then get hold of me. If you want, I can set the site up on our servers and preserve it for prosperity and for reference links. There are a distressing number of dead sites in the current blogroll and linked to from our pages. Some of them I’d dearly like to reread. In particular KiwiBlogBlog and even robinsod’s rather strange site. I’m unconcerned about your political affiliations – if fact I usually don’t care.
And yes Eve I’m renaming your site – it isn’t CACFA any more. I’ve even added Inventory2’s site back in now that he has returned from the dead (no relation to Roger (Zombie) Douglas). But while he may be a bit of a right-wing maniac, but at least he knows how to argue.
The site site just doubled its memory, so hopefully that will stop the periodic outages due to the general enthusiasm to see our authors ‘wisdom’.

BTW: Lyn gets back this weekend from AIDC.
Bloggers of the right may heave a premonitory sigh of relief and reduce their artistic,
but highly selective highly quoting – before I get irritated again.
The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...
The server will be getting hardware changes this evening starting at 10pm NZDT.
The site will be off line for some hours.
Since you mention it, lprent, I’ve always wondered why I’m under “Other” instead of “Left” blogs. Not fussed about it, just curious.
🙂 yeah that looks like an error.
I saw another misplaced one the other day, can’t remember what it was now.
yeah, when we categorise them the ‘other’ check box is just above ‘left’
Cursed ticky-boxes! It’s a conspiracy against me! /dramaqueen
Depends what I saw at the time….
But someone else beat me to it,,,
QoT, with your blog having the title “Ideologically Impure”, I would think that it’s no surprise that Iprent put you under “Other”. 🙂
I had thought of that … but dammit, it’s such a good name!
Yes it is – but I have few ideological values – what works…
“If you want, I can set the site up on our servers and preserve it for prosperity and for reference links”
Posterity surely? Unless of course the next budget includes a Bloggers Benefit in which case it would indeed be prosperity!
N.B. I don’t see that happening somehow, nor am I proposing such a thing /troll avoidance
P.S. How do you get that nice looking italic quoting?
You put a “less than” symbol, then an “i”, then a “greater than” symbol (all without the quotes), then the text you want to be italicised, then the same thing again but this time with a “/” right before the “i”.
Check the FAQ for more.
Yep… You are correct. Felix has already pointed you to the FAQ
On an unrelated note (and with apologies) why is the Sysop symbol a dolphin jumping the world? There is way to much web hippy in that.
[lprent: Because when I needed a icon many many years ago I used a dolphin jumping over the world. The web wasn’t around at the time and the net was more nascent than anything else. It was my icon for my uucp feed. I updated it with better graphics when we started this site. It is actually my identicon (and I happen to be the sysop). ]
