C Listers and tag alongs

Christopher Luxon’s much vaunted social media team have probably taken up day time drinking, quite possibly for breakfast.

Because he has this innate ability to say the most negative wet and whiny and miserable things which must irritate most kiwis.

Who can forget his repeated use of the word “entitled” when talking about how he did not want to live in Premier House because it was not up to scratch and wanted to receive $52,000 so that he could live in an apartment that he owned?

But yesterday he managed to absolutely trounce this by describing the trade delegation that accompanied Chris Hipkins on a previous trade delegation as c listers and tag alongs.

He tried to then say that his words were taken out of context. It is difficult to understand in what context the words could have a different meaning to that which has been ascribed to them.

The people that he referred to include representatives from Air New Zealand, Fonterra, Zespri and Silver Fern Farms.

And the implication, that Labour was bad at negotiating trade deals is somewhat overstretched.

After all during the term of the sixth Labour Government trade deals were signed with the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership were also signed.

And Luxon has been told in the past that politicising trade trips is not helpful.

Comvita Chairman Brett Hewlett previously suggested to Luxon that he steer away from using certain political phrases in his speeches and that using language like “under new management” and “open for business” was not helpful. Overseas relationships had been built over time by a series of people who should be acknowledged.

He has the sensitivity and nuance of David Brent. And the level of control of Donald Trump.

I wonder what Winston and Seymour think.

And he is busily reversing his former position on flying commercial and not replacing the Air Force 747s. Hipkins charitably suggested that the idea should be considered was very generous. And Luxon should be forced to own the decision without bipartisan support to highlight his hypocrisy.

Third paragraph should be didn't not did want to live in Government house I think.

[Thanks you are right. I have changed – MS]

While you're correcting that section, Government House is where the GG lives, the PM gets to use Premier House.

He's a tosser. C listers, bottom feeders, his frequently expressed opinion of people is atrocious.

[Right you are. Corrected – MS]

Giving credit where credit is due is not a National Party thing, although taking credit where credit is not due certainly is.

Take the example of their eternal put downs of Michael Cullen, finance minister under the Clark government.

Cullen has earned high praise, much of it retrospective, from business leaders and economists alike for his handling of his portfolio – aside from National and their cronies, of course.

What an arrogant, rude PM we are having to put up with. Listened to Chris Hipkins this morning on RNZ. Such a pleasing contrast to Luxon's rudeness. Luxon's inflated ego is outstripping his competence by the day.

Yes Reality. Chris Hipkins is economical with words where Luxon is fond of word salads and "corrections" for "out of context."

And Hipkins answers the question where the other does not.

Another annoying phrase of his I find is 'I will say to you', just a few words while he thinks up a response. I keep waiting for him to forget himself and act like Moses (his alter ego) coming down from the mountain with the ten commandments and say 'I say unto you all'. He has even got Bishop and Brown saying it now.

Classic example of block & bridge technique that confirms that his main aim is to be accountable as little as possible either because he has a hidden agenda or because he is incompetent. It is learned behaviour through extensive media training. It is the kind of behaviour you might expect from an arrogant CEO fielding and batting away pesky questions from annoying employees rather than providing an honest and informative answer to his Board and shareholders as one would expect from a PM communicating with the voting public and media reporters.

a bit ironic this coming from a C grade Prime Minister of a C grade government with a lot of C grade talent in his cabinet

Did Hipkins take the coalition cabinet as delegation with him on his last few PM trip overseas?

Luxon seems to have a too cosy relationship with ZB and the NZ Herald. When he's talking to them he loses caution and reverts to the sort of loose, blokey blather that happens among friends. He may be a shallow, self-aggrandising goose, but that's been obvious for ages. The important story here is probably one of a degraded media.

That said – he does appear to have a disturbing belief in social and economic hierarchies – first "bottom feeders" and now "C-listers". It may come back to his having a sense of being one of 'The Elect' .

Luxury Luxon’s Church was the Newmarket Upper Room. No idea if he still attends.
Upper Room is a prosperity Church which celebrates those with material wealth.

      • SPC 5.1.1

The New Zealand Upper Room is not a branch of that American group. It was formed here in 2009 as a new church.

        • ghostwhowalksnz 5.1.1.1

Same thing isnt it . All those evangelical-pentacostal type churches are independent in the financial sense from each other but follow the same teachings and pastors are interchangeable .

While he says that he doesnt 'attend' the regular meetings, I saw somewhere that services are also held in homes and Im betting the wealthy members get 'exclusivity'

ZB and granny are effectively an extension of NACT marketing.

Seymour, brown, bishop etc say many things worthy of extra inquisition, so at least the public can see what their response is, but instead they get a soapbox and nothing is challenged.

Dont expect anything different from our owned media.

I don’t care about Luxon’s utterances as they only damage his own personal reputation and credibility, or what’s left of it; he’s the typical wannabe King who turned court jester.

The real damage is done by the cronies behind the throne, and they should all be signalled clearly with heaps or orange cones as a constant warning to us.

    • tc 6.1

That's the strategy like last time IMO, distract from the plunder thats rewarding the backers.

Smile and wave replaced by spray and wipe as hes a messy boy which is probably deliberate. Gotta fuel the distraction and what better way than stick the boot in again to the last government.

Of wannabe kings, jesters and cronies smiley

As a tragic follower of Twitter, I am amused by his (Luxon's) repeated pics of himself in his tight blue suit meeting with lots of other blue suits and tasting food. He even had which I thought was too woke for school kids. No $3 prepackaged sandwiches in sight.

    • bwaghorn 7.1

I'm sure" luxcon and the a listers" children don't have $3 lunchs at the partially tax payers funded private schools.

    • ianmac 7.2

And remember that Luxon likes to grope all the Leaders he meets. A bit weird. Almost as though he sees himself as a world leader being there to show the ordinary leaders the way to go. Trumpian?

      • Tony Veitch 7.2.1

As they say, Luxon is the gift that just keeps on giving!

But that's what you get from a narcissist!

    An amateur psychologist writes:

Clearly the subject is driven by envy and insecurity. He is so resentful that a woman who previously had the same job was widely praised around the world, while he is completely ignored. It wounds him deeply that his remarkable talents are not appreciated outside New Zealand (and not much inside it). This leads to barely controlled outbursts which are not a calculated political move but an insight into his true character.

In conclusion, he is a child ("S'not fair, s'not fair, s'not fair"). Recommended course of action: time out from the job, with a promise of ice cream if he ever learns to behave.

    • fender 8.1

Yes, he's so insecure about being out of his depth and having such a low preferred PM rating he thinks he can improve it with inaccurate spiteful digs at the opposition. Me thinks it will have the opposite effect than he anticipates.

    Another day, another foot-in-mouth …

"No questions in press conference is ‘Asian protocol’, says Luxon"

PM Christopher Luxon to speak to media ahead of meeting with Japan’s PM Fumio Kishida – NZ Herald

So he makes a sweeping generalisation about dozens of very different countries, and he does it in Japan, where government ministers routinely give press conferences and take questions.

When asked how many girlfriends he had he fell asleep counting………

…before long he was calling out to Baaabaara while he slept, she's an A lister!

Mr Luton often refers to "kiwis" as if we are a species separate from him. Not sure what to make of that?
