The RNZAF Boeing aircraft just flew over my home. I watched it descend into Whenuapai. I suppose it was the plane bringing Winnie and Judy home form Aussie. Hope it was a real bumpy ride. devil

The New Zealand and Australian Foreign and Defence Ministers had their first annual gathering – which they called ANZMIN – but given what they said afterwards the epitaph used for this confab are going to be synonymous with the name of a bird that hovers above its own droppings.

As the Consul-General in New York would put it, one common purpose of New Zealand and Australia is to confront piracy and defend sea lanes. This would lower shipping costs between Europe and Asia. Another would be to support the collective defence of nations and thus deter war. Another would be to ensure peace in the wider SE Asia-Pacific region.

Instead what we got from ANZMIN was a diplomatic shambles, a trade ministers nightmare and counter-productive to peace in the region.

Or as John Oliver would put in, if you mated the two dumbest birds that existed you would get the 2 legged bird with 4 heads called ANZMIN.
