Quick play some music over the top of Dita before she tells everyone what the hell is going on in media and so the host doesn’t feel too awkward.

Yep I heard her talk and I thought it was the most important thing said on Nat Rad today and she was cut off and trivialised …

    [Thanks Anne.

One of my daily jobs is to scour Facebook and twitter and find the ultimate graphic. I had a couple of other potential graphics but they were really pushing the boundaries … MS]

Believe it or not there are still scientists that refuse to think man capable of effecting the earths climate. This article was also in the free rural rag

Yes there are still a couple of “scientists” who for what ever reason – mainly funding from the Oil industry – have closed their minds to reality. And reported in NZ Farmer! Well knock me down with a feather!

He is a fertilizer seller and rather ironically attacks anything non mainstream because if it isn’t backed by solid science , put this up in the hope that someone cleverer than me might rebutt his claims in a letter to nz farmer.

I didnt read the article, the title was enough for me.

Deniers talk about vested intrests, but there is a lot of money to be made out of trashing the environment. A lot more than protecting it.

Government sends major Canterbury contract to Australia

The big question: Who’s actually going to build it?

Because I’m pretty sure that it will be local NZers with the Australian firm being nothing more than ticket clippers.

This is what the TPPA will do to the price of drugs in NZ:

A drug treating a common parasite that attacks people with weakened immune systems increased in cost 5,000% to $750 per pill.

At a time of heightened attention to the rising cost of prescription drugs, doctors who treat patients with AIDS and cancer are denouncing the new cost to treat a condition that can be life-threatening.

Turing Pharmaceuticals of New York raised the price of Daraprim from $13.50 per pill to $750 per pill last month, shortly after purchasing the rights to the drug from Impax Laboratories. Turing has exclusive rights to market Daraprim (pyrimethamine), on the market since 1953.

Thing is, a drug that old shouldn’t even have any such exclusive rights left.

Why is the example you give of any relevance to NZ funding of pharmaceuticals ?

      • Draco T Bastard 7.1.1

Because we’re going to see US copyright/patent laws imposed upon NZ if we sign the TPPA.

        • northshoredoc 7.1.1.1

Even if that is the case which is highly doubtful as to how it might affect pharmaceuticals in NZ, the product that you have highlighted is out of patent.

The price has more to do with a ‘dysfunctional market’ in the USA if you like, as no one else has registered the drug in the USA. In NZ the medicine used here isn’t even registered by Medsafe as it’s so seldom used and it’s supplied under what’s known as Section 29 for unregistered medicines at around $37 per 50tabs.

          I’ve made comment here…
