Jenna Raeburn was on The Nation this weekend. She, and those of her ilk, epitomise everything that’s wrong with New Zealand at the moment:

      From link:
With such a strong interest in law and politics, it is no surprise that Raeburn’s partner is a National MP, Chris Bishop, who she met at law school.

      Jesus wept tears of frustration!

I have a recollection she was on either Q&A or The Nation a few months ago and she was out-debated by her opposite number (can’t remember who it was) on every count. She came across as a useless, ill informed, immature and entitled nobody pretending to be somebody.

Yeah I saw that, I found it sickening she was defending National by saying they’ve boosted mental health funding and spend over $1 billion on it. In the story though all the experts working on the ground basically say its in crisis, which gives you the
impression real life funding is a 20c coin and an old mechanics rag.

Paula Bennett is determined to continue promoting short term fix policy in order to stay in the news.

$50,000 for all these headlines represents good value for money for Bennett. Not so much for anyone else.

Really ??? Do you have to resort to making comments about her weight?

Personally I think attacking a woman’s weight is piss poor. I hope you treat the women in your life with more respect.

      • Anne 2.1.1

If Madam treated other women with more respect she would get it in return. She doesn’t so she deserves what she gets. The false compassion she exhibits only makes it all the more contemptible.

        • James 2.1.1.1

So if I believe somebody does not show enough respect to other people it’s ok for me to make fun of their weight or other personal characteristics?

No – that’s not how it works Anne.

That’s not a reason or excuse to make comments on weight etc.

Edit – thanks kids for editing (although fat phobia- really?)

          • Anne 2.1.1.1.1

            …thanks kids for editing.

            Pot calls kettle….

            • james 2.1.1.1.1.1

That was a autocorrect from my phone (was supposed to be mods). I could have edited but you have replied – and lets face it its more funny with kids.

        • weka 2.1.1.2

by that argument she deserves racist and misogynist abuse too. Problem there is that there are plenty of people that think that you and I deserve abuse, and so everyone is now sanctioned to hate on fat people, Māori, women…

        • Draco T Bastard 2.1.1.3

No, I’m with James on that. No need for attacks about her weight.

    • Anne 2.2

150 out of – what is it – 40,000 homeless in Auckland? We learnt recently that for many of these Auckland escapees it’s not $5000 anyway. It’s the cost of relocating to another centre which may be $2000 or less depending on the location.

  3. Richard Rawshark 3

Paula Bennet is proud she managed to get 9 pensioners to move for 5k and a bunch of families. A brilliant success she howls to the moon.

What a moron that woman is. I’m all for successful women in leadership but heck four National MP’s are ruining the image. Hekia Louise Paula and Judith.

We need smart solutions to problems, not move it somewhere else. Lock it up, confine it in a room or tell it to stop when you don’t like what it saying.

    So, bad.

    • Tony Veitch (not the partner-bashing 3rd rate broadcaster 3.1

For God’s sake, Richard Rawshark, sort out you facts before posting! You forgot about Anne (Tolly)

  4. Macro 5

Over the ditch and First Dog says it so well
    Their equivalent of WINZ…..
I can confirm from 2nd hand experience this is exactly how it is.

  5. repateet 6

Why wasn’t the full report of the Brownlee airport episode released straight away?

Because it would make him look like an arrogant prick? He looks like that anyway but now we know there’s some other arrogant prick who defended hm by not allowing its release.

    • Incognito 6.1

They had to first black-out the commercially sensitive parts and the bits that might have caused embarrassment to the Minister under the no-surprises policy 😉 The irony is that Gerry wasn’t embarrassed at all but I was, having such a buffoon (bull in a China shop) as my democratically-elected representative in Parliament. Don’t get me started on how embarrassed I am by our PM …

      • Gangnam Style 6.1.1

Lack of ‘personal responsibility’ by Brownlee when he lied about the guards response, yet we are to believe the ‘Jihadi Brides’ fearmongering that comes out of their mouths? & then we have the likes of Dr Waynes sleepy drone telling us we are all wrong & go back to sleep in the states caring ‘wraparound’ embrace? Oh, & on Planet Key our PM is ‘Honest John’ & Bennett is ‘effective’. Personally I think they are all ‘sub-optimal’. (also just read a scientist say with practise you too could be an effective liar’).
