Red Alert, the Labour MPs’ blog, has a list of upcoming meetings on the supercity.

Head it with the name of the select committee (Auckland Governance Legislation Select Committee) and the name of the Bill (Local Government (Auckland Council) Bill), and your name.     Important areas to focus on (in my opinion) when making a submission:

    1) No at large councillors
    2) Match up the ward boundaries with the local board boundaries
    3) Maori seats
    4) Real power for the local boards
    5) Allow the local boards to own property and employ staff

    Section 8 of the Bill is – in many ways – the most important, as it relates to the structure of the Auckland Council. Section 10, 11, 13 and 15 relate to the powers of the local boards.
