Our new Attorney-General, National’s Chris Finalyson, on the importance of select committees:

Select Committees are the engine room of Parliament. They are also intended to provide a level of public and political scrutiny for the range of legislation some routine and some contentious promoted by the government and by individual MPs. They are an important and critical part of the political process. Often they are also a means for politicians and particularly the government to hear from those people affected by their policies about the practicalities of legislation and how it will work, or could be made to work better.

Hmm.

National are shaping up to have the Reverse Midas Touch contaminating anyone associated with them.

Watch how quickly those precious few talented souls they do have will desert National.

Mighty glad my colours aren’t nailed to that mast.
