The Northern Action Group has, with the support of 80% of Northern Rodney District, been petitioning the Government to leave Northern Rodney out of its Supercity experiment. The Government, as throughout the Supercity process has completely ignored the wishes of the people.
Symbolically, the Northern Action Group has put a broken campaign sign on Trade Me, representing the broken promises of this government. It won’t go for as much as an arm cast or a doodle but I think it’s far more worthwhile.
The people of the Auckland region will remember who forced them against their will into the Supercity, at the elections later this year, and in 2011.

“with the support of 80% of Northern Rodney District,”
How do you get that figure?
You could always follow the link old boy.
80% of people asked is somewhat different to 80% of the people of Northern Rodney District.
I’d agree. Especially since they haven’t said how many people, what time frame, etc…
But, do 50% of Kiwis support National or only 50% of those asked by the pollsters?
BR, for all we know the NAG have gone and asked 10 people in the street of Warkworth, 5 of those could have been related to the chief NAG, three more could have been their neighbors and the two that said no could have been people from the North Shore passing through.
Calm down lukas thats the way polls are presented, I mean hell no one believes that 59% of Kiwis think Key is the man for the job but a poll might reflect that.
Hi Craig, appreciate your concern about my level of calmness. I am pretty calm today thanks.
Eddie says in his/her post “The Northern Action Group has, with the support of 80% of Northern Rodney District, been petitioning the Government to leave Northern Rodney out of its Supercity experiment.”
No where does it say how that figured was arrived at. You have to go to a TradeMe link to find out that is a figure that NAG have come up with after asking around. When did they ask? Was it just a quick show of hands at the local pub in Warkworth?
Chances are, the polls that show National ahead are a touch more accurate than this.
No Lukas, asking around the local Pub (actually vineyard) is how the govt. does it. We at NAG pounded the streets for 4 months and gathered signatures only from North Rodney residents.
What with absentee owners, people out when we called and areas not covered we calculated that we contacted under 50% of voters on the roll of 14887 meaning that our signature count at 6126 is actually over 80%. The Govt. used emails and letters totalling 353 to overturn their own select committee’s recommendation saying most of North Rodney wanted in the Super city. So you draw your own conclusions as to who is most accurate in assesssing what this community wants! And no it aint over till the fat lady sings so we fight on.
In putting up evidence of how Nag did their polling, Bill asked,
“who is most accurate in assesssing what this community wants!”
The point is, National don’t want to do what the community wants.
