Skeptical Science has posted a very interesting video with Dr. Ove Hoegh-Guldberg on climate science in the oceans.

The oceans have been buffering the effects of CO2 emissions. However the oceans are also showing the most immediate effects from the changes in water temperatures and acidity. Our civilizations depend both directly and indirectly on the oceans and the ecosystems that they support. Dr Hoegh-Guldberg in his understated way examines the science and some of the implications of our current unrestricted emissions of CO2.

I’d like to see more of this type of solid science based video available for my own interest (it was enjoyable watching this over breakfast) and so I can post them here. If anyone knows of any then suggest them in the comments.

So I guess this is ok to post?
Planet Earth We Have A Problem : Part 1

David Wasdell is possibly the foremost climate systems analyst on Earth: he tells it like it is, because he sees no reason to lie. When he talks, you listen, because failure to listen to his unique brand of unfiltered, unpoliticized, science-based analysis is failure to listen to the voice of reason.

He says we have to go into a period of negative radiative forcing (global heating energy) merely to end up with a stable, non-catastrophic climate system, "thats the overall strategy. It is not, of course, the strategy being addressed by the IPCC…they are addressing a climate agenda that is way out of date from the reality of the system as we know it today."

Wasdell is an angry man. He has stared into the abyss, time and time again, and realised that we are acting like spoilt children in a party where there is nothing but cake and chocolate laced with cyanide: spoilt children who will kill themselves in search of a toxic dream.

Very interesting and alarming, great site link, thanks Robert.

Pitty the poor fellows site shares the same name as our power company (Meridian) who seem to think that the profit motive over rides the ecological value of the rivers they so selfishly exploit.

The lack of comments is indicative of the general lack of interest most people have in their own or their children’s futures.

Hard for people to look more than a year or two out in this day and age, especially when it seems like there is very little we can do individually or as communities which will make a difference to ocean temperatures etc.
