The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

The site will be off line for some hours.
Never been a fan but this was refreshing.

So Mark Mitchell has somewhat dramatically threatened to go to the Czech Republic to get the goss on Karel Sroubek if he has to. The leadership slugfest in National is clearly now underway.
One way ticket? A good cost to bear.
And who is going to pay for it? Taxpayers? Or will it come out of National Party coffers? Can’t see him paying for it himself.
Simon would probably think it was money well spent at this point?
Do you think this guy should get permanent residency? if so why?
If it’s a choice (however unpalatable) between giving the guy residency or sending him back to the Czech Republic where his life may be in danger then, yes, I think he should be granted residency. I think it’s safe to assume that if the Immigration Minister thought that deportation was a viable option he would have taken it.
That story is horse shit.
Seeing how this government operates, my guess is that there’s someone close to Labour who’s had dealings with this chap and it could all get a bit embarrassing if he decides to talk, therefore permanent residency.
Dodgey as fuck.
I find it dodgy as fuck that media-hating Libertarian vampire billionaire Peter Thiel got citizenship for duping arch-negotiator Steven Joyce.
You’ve lost the plot mate.
Can we trade him for Mark Mitchell?
I think he should stay (for now). He knows this is his last chance and I think he will reform.
Mitchell ?
Lol reform?
He’s a career crim and a liar.
It’s just idiots fall for it.
Here is hoping your family is never hurt by the damage assholes like this bring.
Given you’re description (“career criminal”, “liar”), he sounds ideally suited for the Natioanal party – Collins would surely ‘warm’ to him as a potential replacement for Ross/Barclay/no-Bridges.
If he was a Chinese drug dealer, Simon would be having dinner with him, having his photo taken with him, offering him a NZ Order of Merit and then leaving with a $100k donation.
Think you mean Ardern.
You forgot that he’d be selling him a couple of slots on National’s list.
So he thinks there might be something in the guy’s claims BMmer?
Has he really? ROFL !!!
Right up there with Hide’s supercity research junket to Europe.
This is for you BM and your deluded fantasy that National will sweep to majority government in 2020.

Radio Pravda, fellates the government and tells the world they’re amazing and everyone loves them. 🙄
Hopefully National learns from their previous mistake and sells/destroys Labours propaganda arm post-2020.
Yes I remember Bill English carelessly letting slip before the ‘08 election how keen he was to privatise media when National took office. The backlash was enough to put that plan on the back burner for the entire time Key and English were in office.
Makes sense.
Only by lying their arses off and totally destroying objective media have the Gnats got a shitshow of keeping their mouldering paws on the levers of power.
So Colin James using poll results to make some conclusions = Radio Pravda, fellating the government.
Your little surges on here the wet dreams from your nightmares?
When you stage a fake photo of a celeb and the media snaps it up like it is real without questioning it too hard.

Hosking has issues with female AI.
The sidekick must be playing up.
Link not worth providing.
I never read Hosking but was curious re-your comment.
He was taking the mickey WTB and being deliberately provocative. I quite enjoyed it.

Oh yes, every time Hosking is being deliberately provocative I have thoughts like:
“How clever”
“What a controversial chap” &
“He’s right, all those lefties and women and minorities should STFU, ingrates.”
