For my sins I duly confess to subscribing to the Herald on line - it manages to give me a reason to laugh out loud or become a screaming wreck all in a very short time, reading the comments from the Nact/Act faithful who obviously flock to their shrine ...
And of course it was until recently one of the main headlines on Granny Herald's website - slightly demoted now but still there. I can't see any mention of it on other news outlets LOL. I see you mentioned that Jonathan Coleman did it too back in the day -...
And I bet you're creaming yourself about this. Let's see how the 'Hearing' goes first.
Jeepers Alan, do you want me to drive from Matamata to Hamilton or Tauranga every three months to get my regular meds, with the cost of petrol and parking charges thrown in for good measure. Last I heard, the Chemist Warehouse don't do online prescriptions...
I would have liked Weka to clarify her assertion 'I wonder where he thinks he's going to work after he gets voted out at the next election.' I trust she wasn't referring to Ben Bell.
I still haven't forgiven John Tamihere referring to women as 'front bums' - and most of their policies don't resonate with this average Aotearoan.
My husband and I have had the usual increase in our National Superannuation and the winter energy payment has now kicked in as well. OK, we are lucky as we own our property mortgage free, but the Labour Government which you go to great pains to ridicule do...
I (for better or worse - usually the latter) subscribe to NZ Herald - the comments to Simon's article are just so predictable, most of them are frothing at the mouth and possibly other places as well! One or two brave souls had the utter temerity to ...
'I'm not sure what point you're trying to score here – but you seem to be making a mountain out of a molehill.' And you're not?
@tsmithfield, and who would be the first to jump up and down and complain bitterly about the hospital system not coping with a rapid influx of covid (and probably influenza) cases if the 7 day isolation period was scrapped. Dr Shane Reti, Chris Luxon, ...
I jumped into the bear pit of comments about the The Herald's 'Dazzling or Diversive - World Reacts to Ardern's Speech'. It was nothing more than a get together of male, pale, stale and the usual hate comments from them about this 'young slip of a girl', ...
Thankyou mickeysavage - I was trying to construct a reply to the thebiggestfish7, but I knew I would have the rage of the mods on me in a big way, so I will simply wholeheartedly agree with your post.
Ad, Darien Fenton has penned a lovely tribute to Jacinda Ardern. IIRC it's on her Facebook page.
Me too - The Standard has been my go to blog for several years - I'm an avid reader/follower and sometime commenter. I think I will bail out for a while too. I'm a white CIS (bordering on elderly) female with definitely feminist left wing views and have ...
Interest news SPC - our Chippy isn't as dim as the Natz team would make him out to be. I (for better or worse) subscribe to N Z Herald probably to take perverse delight in reading what their rabid supporters comment on matters pertaining to the Government....
I totally agree with your comments Anne. I volunteer for and am the treasurer of our local small CAB in a Waikato town. We rely on constant fundraising and obtaining grants from various charities etc including an annual grant from our District Council. ...
I personally hope that is the case.
Rosie, I don't want to get my adult (retiree) vote cancelled by other older citizens who get their daily brainwashing from nothing more than ZB Newstalk and their Natz sycophants.
There were probably some enlightened secondary schools teaching Civics then. I recall it being suggested that it should be taught in all secondary schools and the then Prime Minister, Rob Muldoon vetoed it straight away as being an insidious communist plot...

Wow, Rob Campbell has lobbed a grenade into the works with his 'comments' about National's attitude to the water infrastructure debate. I'm saying to myself; 'go you good man', but I fear his days may well be numbered in his present role if the Nats and ...
Hear, hear Roy - I even looked at the headings on the Daily Blog by Te Reo Putake, but yeah, nah, it's all a bit demented over there.
Just to let Lynn and y'all at The Standard that I'm up and running again my three devices. Thanks for your hard work in getting the site operational. I meant to say in my earlier post, which doubled up that I was missing my daily fix, not my 'dairy' fix!
I've been having issues with this blog since 15th Feb, I've managed to update it on my Galaxy phone but cannot access the comments. This is my go to blog and I'm missing my dairy fix
I'm having issues with not being able to access the comments when opening some of the posts - help. This has been happening since 15th Feb.
I hold my nose and pay to get through the paywall in order to read David Fisher's and Simon Wilson's articles, plus one or two others, though I simply ignore all the blatantly rightwing pieces by the usual suspects. I have cancelled my subscription before ...
Indeed food for thought TSM - we have 10 solar panels on our roof plus one large hot water panel which was already in place when we purchased this property. It all helps with the power bill, especially during the spring, summer and autumn seasons. We even ...
Too true Muttonbird - I just about choked on my coffee a while ago after reading a OP in STUFF from Brook Sabin - I agreed with him (probably for the first time). The vitriol and misogyny and pure hatred Jacinda Ardern has had to cope with throughout the ...
I lived in Morrinsville in the early 1970s and campaigned for Helen Clark when she stood for Piako that year. The sentiment was pretty much the same in those days as well, though we did have a dedicated local committee who worked hard during that campaign.
