A manual car is best it cost the least to maintain when you got a flat battery you can crash start it try doing that with a manual. And when the mokos get infected by others bad behaviour they won’t take a manual car and crash it in a manual car if you lose traction start skidding you can change down gears and pull out of the skid.
ECO MAORI Know that the Maori he tangata supports me the most I will be changing my support from people who show disrespect ECO MAORI I will be supporting Te Karere in the morning from now on Ana to kai Jack when you go I will review my support It real funny that all of a sudden the government is concerned about the bullshit link of heart health and mental condition.?????????

“you can change down gears and pull out of the skid.”

Have you not heard of Tiptronic?

      • solkta 2.1.1

and I think you will find that modern autos are way cheaper to maintain. Subaru auto trans from the late 90s on for example do about 350,000km before dying. A service costs $80 and you would only need to do this three times over lifetime = $240.

  3. eco maori 3

They are phaseing out manual cars so they can bleed the common people more as it is the people who by cars 6 year +, old who pay for all the maintenance cost.
Here’s a phenomenon that the wealthy inpose on the common poor people of Papatuanukue /the World.
Wealth people who have a business get to depreciation there work vehicles YEA RIGHT??? At
30% a year 30% of $30.000 is $9.000 a year after 3 years they have claimed against there tax bill $27.000 WTF.
One mite say what about the interest paid well that is claimed against there tax bill to so is matainance.
What a neoliberal farcical system for our cars.

    http://www.turners.co.nz/Cars/Used-Cars-for-Sale/toyota/hilux/?sortorder=0&pagesize=24&pageno=1&make=Toyota models

This vehicle should be only worth $10.000 not $15.000 to $20.000.

In my view on the reality of vehicle sale and prices in OUR WORLD SOCIETY it is the poor common people who subsidise
The wealthy people cars purchases of there vehicles they get high Artificaly inflatabled secondhand prices while the poor common people pay through the nose for old vehicles that need more maintenance than when the wealth owned them another reason the price of secondhand vehicles should be lower.

    EM;

Well done with your efforts of getting hold of your financial affairs EM.

I leave my wife to handle our financial affairs as she was formerly a banking employee raised in Britain, whom I met in Canada in 1972; – as I was a fun loving money free young 27yr old Kiwi expat user who always found it hard to save, as any money that seemed to slip through my hands every day I lived before meeting her.

Good luck for you and your family circle.

  5. eco maori 5

It’s the same for the benefits system the tax paying person is subsidiseing all businesses that employ people who have children. And that makes it harder for people with no children I.E the elderly working class the youth with know children this benefit systems keeps wages low and the neoliberals business multi national business take the proffets and run all the way to the bank laughing YOU poor common people are losing out. I know your produce is to blame Jack he choses to discrimination against ECO Maori he will pay with the rating dropping Ana to kai. Ka kite ano

    • solkta 5.1

We always used to have the family benefit. Children are a social good, a necessity for society to continue, as well as a private good. It seems to me more than reasonable to ask those who choose not to have children to help pay the costs of those who do.

      • Rosie 5.1.1

“It seems to me more than reasonable to ask those who choose not to have children to help pay the costs of those who do.”

That already occurs in the form of paying taxes – common good ‘an all.

But further to that, are you suggesting those that choose not to have children personally subsidise other families? That seems like an absurd suggestion.

I have no children and can barely take care of myself financially, let alone others.

        • Puckish Rogue 5.1.1.1

It’s also a helluva thing to suggest to couples that want but can’t have kids of their own

          • Rosie 5.1.1.1.1

Yes, that would be very cruel.

I don’t think solkta’s suggestion was very well thought through.

            • solkta 5.1.1.1.1.1

I’m not making a suggestion but rather just saying how it is and that it used to be like that also back in the good old days.

      • eco maori 5.1.2

I’m talking about working people the min wage would be $20 a hour with out benefits.
I know that this reality is a bit hard for some people to grasp The universal wage of $250 a week regardless if you are married or working that would encourage everyone to work as they get to keep all there earning after tax we would get rid of a lot of paper shufflers.
It would be good to know how winz spent on administration must be at least 30%
        Ka kite ano

        • solkta 5.1.2.1

Maybe you’re right. Yeh, too, I don’t want to pay for other peoples old people – they can fuck off.

          • solkta 5.1.2.1.1

But seriously, the problem you outline is one of low wages rather than one of having a welfare state that supports children. People on the minimum wage would receive way more in services than they pay the value of in tax. In effect it is not actually them who are paying for welfare transfers to families with children but rather those on medium and higher incomes.

I’ve been a supporter of having a UBI for thirty years. There would still though be welfare transfers to those caring for children. In fact a “universal” benefit would by definition require payments to children as they have human rights too and are just as entitled as anybody else.

This is why Gareth Morgan woke the political Wairua in ECO MAORI.
Because his well researched policy’s the poor common people benefit the most.
While the neoliberals multi national business lose some of there profits.
That is the reality of Gareth Morgan Tops Party Policys and this government wants to boost these neo liberal multi national profits and there control in Atoearoa buy signing that farcical ttp 11 contract. So Auckland’s Health boards say they are at breaking point due to chronic under-funding thanks to National

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11999171

This is the rock-star economy where our doctors cannot cope anymore and have no extra capacity. Imagine if this winter we get the Aussie Flu that has been smashing the rest of the world, will our health system manage? What about the next epidemic?

If this isn’t fixed we are heading for a disaster. I am thinking that Labour are going to have to raise taxes and have to blame it on National running down our services to such dangerously low levels. Health at breaking, Education broken, Police under-paid and no funds set aside by National for pay rises, no money set aside for military upgrade….

    • Andrea 9.1

Must be time for an increase in health subsidies then.

Any way of finding out how many foreign-qualified doctors there are driving taxis or doing similar work to get together the hefty fees for NZ accreditation?

Medical is a closed shop, and the quality isn’t that great. ACC pays out solid amounts for iatrogenic harms – just as insurance companies do overseas.

The whole system needs a massive overhaul but who wants to trouble the sacred cows and ‘image’ of ‘our wonderful medical people’?

      • savenz 9.1.1

If you want a foreign qualified doctor you should be safe as houses in the current medical climate of import foreigners, export skilled Kiwis.

P.S. when they bought in tertiary fees, everyone said that would happen, there would be medical shortages of local people and only the most rich and privileged would become doctors (it would not surprise me, if there is a large contingent of Asian students entering NZ medicine as it is considered high status career in Asia – not necessary because someone wants to be a doctor).

Asia is not know for it’s free and highly skilled doctors which NZ medical system used to be, so our medical system is changing as is the amount of bureaucrats to ‘productionize’ medicine with less skilled people as well as the usual contingent of managers, middle managers, upper managers and so forth to manage the production as well as dream up new ways of cutting costs. “I know lets outsource our health meals to spotless so they can cream off profits and lower wages”.

      • Molly 9.1.2

Needs to be mentioned that ACC also contributes a lot to lawyers in order to avoid paying for treatment for iatrogenic or accidental harm.

      • Keepcalmcarryon 9.1.3

Health underfunded and Auckland population growing unsustainably from mass migration.
        All. Nationals. Fault.
And you ( Andrea) want to blame the stressed overworked medical staff.
        Nuff said
( afterthought, is that you Rodney Hyde?)

    • Stunned Mullet 9.2

Yep be a good year to get a flu shot.

      • One Two 9.2.1

        Go for it , Mullet…

It is highly effective in the 3-10% range, and widely regarded by medical professionals as the safest and most effective method of protection against the ‘flu’…

It’s safe and most effective for the elderly, pregnant women and those with poor immune systems. ..

One of the most successful vaccines ever…

    • tc 9.3

Zero funding rise in health is asking for trouble, it tends to run at about 10% CPI regardless of what’s going on around it.

Add in the 12% population growth under National caused by an open door ‘have money come on down’ approach and other factors like kiwis coming home and BOOM.

National knew exactly what they’re doing with Ryall/Coleman’s biggest task in keeping a lid on it which in the absence of a large private health sectors easy as they’ve got nowhere else to go.

Appointing dodgy mates into senior DHB and MOH positions helps heaps like the waikato DHB’s Nigel Murray.

They were warned about him but barrelled ahead anyway.

  10. Please tell me I misheard the midday news: Trump’s master plan for reducing the number of school shooting – wait for it – arm the teachers!

I ask you, how dysfunctional can America society become before it collapses?

    • Ant 10.1

The implication is shocking beyond words, – imagine the educational ‘climate’ in class knowing the teacher is armed and ready to shoot. Sudden scuffle at the back of the class, someone drops a book, an unexpected sneeze…..

    • mac1 10.2

I said about this today that I could just see Mr Mac1 in class with the teacher’s desk piled high with sandbags facing the doorway with a Vicker’s machine-gun locked and loaded, helmet on head and wearing a gas mask.

For some reason we’re not getting much info on the nastiness in Ghouta. The ‘silent’ Syrian war.

The curse of the permanent members of the UN Security Council. Their time of power is past and several of them do more evil than good. What’s the point of democracy when the bullies hold all the important cards – permanently?

Just who are the hands of darkness holding up that nasty little ophthalmologist Assad? How do we reliably find out about the key players in this bloodbath? Al Jazeera?

And Yemen. Too many outsiders. Not enough negotiation.

    • Brigid 11.1

” little ophthalmologist Assad”. Really? Why then are Syrians returning to Syria, why was he elected as President in the last election?
How is it that you’ve formed this opinion of Assad?

A fucking shame the vile prick made it to 99.

Back in April, 1989, a Graham memo to Nixon was made public. It took the form of a secret letter from Graham, dated April 15, 1969, drafted after Graham met in Bangkok with missionaries from Vietnam. These men of God said that if the peace talks in Paris were to fail, Nixon should step up the war and bomb the dikes. Such an act, Graham wrote excitedly, “could overnight destroy the economy of North Vietnam”.

Graham lent his imprimatur to this recommendation. Thus the preacher was advocating a policy to the US Commander in Chief that on Nixon’s own estimate would have killed a million people. The German high commissioner in occupied Holland, Seyss-Inquart, was sentenced to death at Nuremberg for breaching dikes in Holland in World War Two. (His execution did not deter the USAF from destroying the Toksan dam in North Korea, in 1953, thus deliberately wrecking the system that irrigated 75 per cent of North Korea’s rice farms.)

    National attracts the nicest people.

“The husband and son of National’s Taranaki-King Country MP Barbara Kuriger have been charged with counts of animal cruelty.
Animal cruelty charges have also been laid against a company that the MP herself as well as her husband and son have shares in, Oxbow Dairies, according to Stuff.”

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11999841

    • One Anonymous Bloke 14.1

Tony Kuriger was the sharemilker/equity farmer of the year at the 2014 Hawke’s Bay-Wairarapa Dairy Industry Awards,

Louis and Barbara Kuriger won the same prize at the 1987 Taranaki awards.

Barbara Kuriger is a former Dairy Woman of the Year and lives in Taranaki.

Calls into question exactly how these ‘awards’ are handed out. I wonder how the MP escaped charges, as an accessory at the very least.

Edit: PS: unless she’s estranged from her husband, I suppose.

In Gisborne tomorrow the release of the Labour /NZ First coalition deal representing all regions with “economic and transport issues” is going to be released tomorrow in Gisborne.

We are wanting Labour to re-open our rail services that National wrecked by cutting the rail maintenance funds and it caused blocked drains and a rail washout,

    http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PA1302/S00183/kiwirail-admits-lack-of-maintenance-led-to-wash-out.htm

So National was guilty of wrecking our rail and after six long years we have had to wait for a labour lead government to finally reopen the rail service again.

I spoke to several people involved in the renewal of rail system between a couple of places caled Majolha and Tanakpur. They said they got the equiv of a living wage, gained a heap new skills grom track maintenance to signalling.
50km completed in under 18 months and capable of supporting 100kmph.

Consider that atmospheric methane levels are now at ~1850 parts per billion.

With a warming potential of 86x that of CO2 over a 20 year timespan, that adds another 159 ppm CO2 equivalent on top of current CO2 levels of 407 ppm.

For a grand total of 556 ppm CO2 equivalent.

Of course, this still doesn’t take into account the effect of the many other greenhouse gases eg water vapour, N2O, CFCs etc.

Shamefully too, often the legit immigrant workers are the ones getting tipped out of the country whilst those into exploiting het to stay.
There is a solution too, and it’s to automatcally revoke THE PR status of those convicted along with jail/fines.
If they’ve already managed citizenship then tougher sentence. In both cases seize assets to pay workers if necessary.
They might just find it an effective way of reducing immig numbers.

Radionz report this afternoon on someone selling arms overseas – rocket launchers etc. Queen St address. I think they said that there was UN ban.

Ron Mark, ex Army, said sourly that people who don’t like defence and have the idea of sitting around singing kumbaya won’t like it. NZFirst have agreed for a bill to go to select committee but may not vote for it afterwards. Lawyer said if limitation on action is too loose, and just applies in NZ I think, then a shell company can be set up overseas and get round the ban.

The arms dealing was found out about in 2009 but nothing done till now.

Don’t know just what the bill is for but those here interested in defence and armaments will understand more than I did.
