The Herald are reporting Carmel Sepuloni will be deputy PM, so if you're right they still have plenty to work with.
Thanks for the link - a good read. " This policy means that data on ‘males’ and ‘females’ will ordinarily be based on a person’s subjective gender identity rather than his or her sex. " Just one of the many problems this madness is going to create.
Good grief, really? Sounds like an invitation to angry petrol heads to revolt!

"that small government "bare bones budget" could have contributed to the staffing issues, imho." Perhaps the expression 'bare bones' simply means lean and efficient. Perhaps it means considering a lesson we learn in the private sector that by employing the...
So were the subsequent problems caused by the bare bones budget or the incompetent bureaucrats and political hacks?
Totally agree. In fact fewer MP's would be a good idea even if we didn't agree on the size of government overall!
Ah but I'm not arguing against public services, per se. In fact, I am a supporter of a mixed economy with government intervention, particularly in long term planning and in regulating the excesses of the market. However, my argument, supported by studies I...
"...and was staffed by incompetent bureaucrats and political hacks." There's your problem. Not small government. Incompetent bureaucrats and political hacks inhabit governments of all sizes. Unfortunately.
There are a number of problems with your response. Leaky home crisis: 1. The leaky homes crisis incorporated houses built before the 1991 Building Act, some as early as 1988. The causes of these are well documented here, and happened prior to the 1991 Act,...
I am deeply suspicious of 'big government'. It seems to me the larger a share of GDP is consumed by the public sector, the less efficient it becomes. And there are a number of studies that support that view. "Small government means few regulations and lax ...
The TWAW claim seems to be both a denial of reality, and a denial of what it is to be a woman. How did we get to this?
"Transwomen are women. " What is the basis in truth for that claim? Is it purely the subjective claims of transpeople, or is there some basis in objective reality?
They are magnificent Robert. Thank you for sharing.
"and they have put forward amendments on the way through." A sound legislative process would be one in which said amendments were made to the legislation as that legislation passed through the various stages of the house. Not hours after it passed into law...
"Amendments are natural part of Bills..." Interesting. Can you think of a bill that introduced amendments to an Act passed just hours before? Of course there will be plenty of examples in which a Bill was changed days before being passed into law (...

Of course he was politicking. Doesn't change a thing. "There are a significant number of amendments to that prior bill - changing the definition of stormwater which takes all road water networks out of stormwater; significant strengthening around some of ...
Hi S. I’ve only just seen this reply, and I really do appreciate the care you’ve taken in your response. My view on the media is simply that editorial is the place for expressing opinion, and all other reporting should be presenting facts, without fear or ...
“The scale of this reform programme is significant and complex. Because of this, it requires separate Bills to deal with different matters." Except that this latest bill did much more than that. It was "mainly (be) a series of amendments to the second bill...
As much as we can trust any polling, yes. These organisations often ask a question designed to solicit a particular response. If you look at the actual question asked by the Better Public Media poll, you will get an idea of how it was framed to get exactly...
Ministers are responsible for ensuring legislation passed through the house does not have '130 pages of amendments' required to a bill that 'just passed'. It's sloppy lawmaking. But heh the entire history of Mahuta's stewardship of 3 Waters has been ...
‘Fine tuning’? After all the time she’s had to write this legislation? I don’t think so.

Because it's potentially uncomfortable for people. And because it can be hijacked by extremes on both sides. Which are the very reasons we absolutely should be having the debate.

Sorry my bad, 2019. That's 3 years ago, and the yields were interim 1.46%, final 1.2%. Meanwhile, by 2031, Auckland Council's debt is forecast to hit $16bn, AIA are likely to be asking for more capital and dividends in the foreseeable future are unlikely.
The airport is not (currently) a revenue earning asset. And at 18% of the equity, AC have little or no control over the asset.
The AIA shares currently generate no income, and there is no foreseeable change to that. But they cost ratepayers $88m per annum in debt servicing. It’s a no brainer.
