The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

Radionz about the bus strike and lockout. The Wellington service NZ Bus is run by Australian company Next Capital. The union says that the Living Wage is what they aspire to and the Wellington Regional Council have offered to fund the amount needed for the pay rise, but the company has rejected that. The union thinks it is a ploy to force down wages for the bus drivers by a company that is into venture capital. Can NZ please take back its economy and enable living standards to rise! And start working on a plan tomorrow or, when is Bastille Day – that would be an appropriate day for some action.

I don't know if either bloc of politicians are very concerned about micro and small businesses in NZ. This is an example of a lack – surely there is some corner of MoBie that looks after this group, the pumping heart of NZ.
"We got locked out one day, in the carpark and discovered that they'd actually changed all the locks. That's when we found out that they had been approved as an MIQ," he said.
"We were quite surprised that we weren't been informed about it."

Sadly no they don't care about the micro and small businesses. Really they don't.
Hi Sabine. Do you have a small business? I seem to remember reading that and Covid 19 affecting it badly. Is that the case?
We are all affected. Yes, i still have my business. Hanging on by fingernails and stubbornness like so many of us.
Good on you, whatever it is you are doing. Things will get better I'm sure.
