South Australia on Sunday became the first gigawatt scale grid in the world to reach zero demand when the combined output of rooftop solar and other small non-scheduled generators exceeded all the local customer load requirements.
The landmark event was observed by several energy analysts, including at Watt Clarity and NEMLog, where Geoff Eldridge noted that a number of measures for South Australia demand notched up record minimums for system normal conditions.

This is good news and definitely a step in the right direction.
However it's worth keeping in mind that South Australia is one of the relatively few places on earth that can do this easily – having both excellent solar and wind energy potential, plenty of flat low value land, relatively close to the demand. (Note they still depend on natural gas to fill in the inevitable gaps in solar/wind sources.) It's no surprise they got to this milestone first.
Scaling this success up to where it can make a real difference where it matters – in the Northern Hemisphere – is a lot more ambitious. Here's what it might take:

Oh well, next please. All politicians must've done something in their life we can sack them for. You know, when they were in Form 3 / Year 9 at high school, or while an undergrad at uni.
The Australia cricket captain resigned in the past week over "an incident that was determined by an independent inquiry at the time to not be a breach of the Code of Conduct and was a consensual and private exchange that occurred between two mature adults and was not repeated." Innocent until proven guilty? Found innocent, found there was no wrong-doing? At the time. And now, four years later being found guilty? Or not being found guilty but being punished by prevailing culture and mores?
Maybe we can revisit some of the Collins incidents from over the years or does she think she was punished enough at the time?
