Fears cuts will affect quality journalism
A union says staff cuts at Fairfax New Zealand could affect the quality of journalism it produces.
I think they mean “quantity”, of jounalism it produces.
I think that, in relation to Fairfax, they mean “‘journalism'” rather than “journalism”.
My sides are still hurting from laughing at that. What quality??
automating PR focused press releases onto news articles via a copy/paste could be done by software so why the need for expensive people.
At least the headline says ‘affect’ rather than ‘impact’, the latter usage having become the norm in many quarters.
I don’t expect most people to know or care about the difference, but it’s one reason I’m not jeering with the rest here to see more subs out of work.
