Heard over the lunch time news that John Key was the keynote (oh how he must never tire of that) speaker at the CTU Biennial Conference this afternoon. A quick flick through the programme that had crossed my desk some weeks ago showed this to be the case and that Phil Goff is speaking tomorrow.
I wonder at that. I can’t remember if, when Labour was last in oppostion, the CTU invited Jim Bolger or Jenny Shipley to attend its conference, but it strikes me that they probably didn’t and if they did, surely it wouldn’t have been before Helen Clark.
If anyone can put me straight I would appreciate it.
But as to why John Key is the first up keynote speaker, I would hazard a guess that Mr Textr is behind it. And I don’t mean Mark Textor of the Crosby Textor fame. I’m talking about John Key’s ubiquitous use of txting to stay in touch and build relationships with various and numerous leaders all around the country. More than one union boss has told me that Key often txts them several times a week. It clearly paid off with the CTU.
I only hope Goff is doing the same.
The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

Yeah – saw that. It seems The Goober is planning on making dismissals deemed unlawful because employers didn’t follow procedure okay.
Ha – capthca = peculiar
Who says the Left isn’t fucked? Anyone? That tumble-weed that just bounced by?
“Key often txts them several times a week”.
Does he ‘poke’ them on their Facebook sites also?
So what!!
Clarky textor is in touch with Labour Often.
Did I hear Key suggest that support staff at schools approach the teachers to take a cut in their contract agreement for pay increases for the support staff. And Key wants to encourage graduates into teaching. If I have inferred correctly then he is indeed a rich prick…
Was that ‘jolly hockey sticks’ I just saw on the shnews? Or a PM from a pro-business party turn up at a union conference?
Couldn’t have been ‘jolly hockey sticks’….could it? Looked like ‘jolly hockey sticks’. Sounded like ‘jolly hockey sticks’. Must’ve been ‘jolly hockey sticks’ then.
Great.
