The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

hard to know without knowing what she did, eh.
OK …. I’ll summarise the content (is one usually expected to? – if so, apologies; I’ll conform in future).
A young, attractive left-leaning female politician in Austria has allegedly said some things (date/time and medium not specified) that certain people don’t like. As a consequence she’s undergoing a pile-on with quite a nasty dash of misogyny in the mix. The allegations have been made anonymously and what were supposed to be private texts have been made public.
Very reminiscent of what’s been happening to so many of our own lefties of late. (The parallels with event in NZ aren't exact, of course, as I'll acknowledge.)
oh interesting (I had read the article and it doesn't really say what she is meant to have done). But I took your comment to mean a GP having scandals 😉
bit more detail from joe90 below.
Having a problematic relationship with the truth, apparently.
.
The “Schilling affair,” as Austrian newspapers have dubbed it, began in early May when local media published a series of reports casting doubt on the former activist’s suitability for the role. Although tabloids happily jumped on the story, much of the reporting was led by Der Standard, a sober broadsheet.
In its article kicking off the media storm, Der Standard portrayed Schilling as having “a problematic relationship with the truth,” with multiple anonymous sources accusing her of spreading damaging rumors about friends, allies and journalists.
The report’s key piece of evidence: A cease-and-desist order, signed by Schilling, that stated the politician faced a €20,000 fine if she repeated false claims that a former friend’s husband had been violent to the point of causing his wife to have a miscarriage.
Schilling says she had simply been concerned for her friend, and shared her worries with her close circle. “That was passed on … I apologized. I wanted to clarify that this should never [have] become public, so I agreed to sign a settlement,” which “was leaked by other people.”
Last week, Der Standard published another bombshell: Based on text messages and an affidavit, the newspaper reported that Schilling had allegedly discussed ditching the Greens after getting elected to the European Parliament to join the far-left faction instead.

bombshell, pfft. Looks like a garden variety RW beat up.
Not really Obtrectator, nothing like that is happening NZ to my knowledge (and it may not be happening in Austria).
Please explain.
An excellent coverage by Nicks korero of the Protest march on Saturday. Beautifully photographed and great observations of the demeanour of the crowd. Making it impossible for any pushback by CoC believers to comment on it in their usual negative and sneering manner. Here in Te Awamutu there is a battle going on to stop a waste to energyincinerator being constructed in an area that is surrounded by houses a high school, a racetrack, a kindergarten, bringing in heavy trucks on a huge scale using our local streets in an ongoing procession. It will devalue most of the area around and add to traffic danger for all, especially children ,not to mention traffic noise. Already we have trucks from other businesses going past which actually shakes our house. Multiply by tenfold and more and life will be hell. And more. But if Fast Track is approved we know who will be first in line to get this business passed to proceed. All of the above will happen whether we like it or not because money talks. It must be stopped. We have to much to lose Nationally. By the way, if you want to feel good about your day have a watch of Lloyd Burr try to interview Willie J. It is truly hilarious. Poor Lloyd…..oh and Paul Goldsmith was there. He has my sympathy 😂
ACT are ‘Change Makers’ as much as National are ‘Promise Keepers’.
