The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

CHOICE, this is a wiseguy word.
you know.
either pay the vigorish or I break your leg.
Its your choice.
i.e. its no choice at all.
so rodney hide and the brt say they want to open up the ACC work account to choice but the people have already spoken.
so whats rodneys choice.
no rollback of the whole scheme so individuals can sue but instead he is flogging off a vital part of the social contract off to his pals.
no morals and no scruples.
what is his return.
whats in it for HIM?
how do we know how many shares rodney will get in the transfer of the peoples money into private hands.
in other words we have been given the “wiseguys” choice which is no choice at all.
and at the next election the labur party will be put through the whole excruciating exercise of rolling back the whole kit and kaboodle that used to siphon the peoples funds into private hands.
what sort of choice is that?
psssssst……..anyone wanna see a handsome woman with impeccable credentials talking sense?
“I teach contract law at Harvard Law School, and I can’t understand my own credit card. No, I am not kidding you.”
One law that I’ve been thinking of lately is one that restricts contracts to 1, single sided, A4 page in 12 point font and double line spacing. Then people would probably read them and be able to understand them.
Something that has angered me greatly this week is John Key’s suggestion that if teachers’ union members want to see education support staff (recently “offered” a nil pay increase in their slave wages) given more, they should sacrifice the chance of a salary increase themselves to pay for it.
Seems he thinks teaching the country’s children is a sort of self-indulgent hobby for teachers, who should be prepared to pay extra for the privilege, and not the responsibility of us all.
To be consistent, he should personally be paying part of the wages of the Prime Minister’s department. Oh, and want to be a soldier in the NZ Army? Don’t forget you will be expected to bring your own bullets.
Anti-Spam word “experiments”. We are all rats in National’s mad science laboratory.
A possible shape of things to come?
