If you want to see the most fun anyone ever had taking old petrol cars off the road, the best one it he Waikaraka Park Demolition Derby.

Big one was held last night. I've gone there a couple of times with my brother who is a driver, and it is just the most insane piece of fun. You get fried hot dots and chips, fireworks, burnouts in a controlled environment, you get derbys with old caravans, you get ramps where the fly everywhere, you get fake revenge memes like it's WWA, and sure you get a bit of concussion as well.

There's easily 1500 people in the audience, and each time I go I think Labour should be sponsoring a team and a driver.

    For the TS records:

Some commenters here might want to educate themselves before they start criticising Left, Right, and Centre. This happens to be a very recent (and timely) informative piece but a simple Google search throws up quite a few more useful articles in NZ MSM.

Habituation is a neurological process which helps us to adapt to new environments keeping ready to reap any benefits or negate any hazards.

I don't usually listen to Mora but caught that interesting discussion this morning. Of relevance to Incognito's comments about Question Time is Tali Sharot's comments about habitual lying. The part of the brain that controls emotional response tends to shut off the more a person lies.

This is an interesting piece on the ethics of lying.

    Note to moderator..

Why am I (mostly) blocked from making comments…currently on culture thread..?

This has been going on for about three days..

    Why is this (not) happening..?

    Does Europe have a future?

The world economy is fracturing into two opposing systems that leaves Germans caught in the middle, with their government having decided to lock the nation into the unipolar U.S. system. The price of its choice to live in the American dream of maintaining a U.S.-centered hegemony is to suffer industrial depression. What Americans call “dependency” on Russia has been replaced by a dependency on more expensive U.S. suppliers while Germany has lost its Russian and Asian markets. The cost of this choice is enormous. It has ended German industrial employment and production. That has long been a major buttress of the eurozone’s exchange rate. The future for the EU looks like a long-term downward drift.

The plan was to drain Russia’s military power by arming Ukraine to draw Russia into a bloody fight that might bring about a regime change.

Murdering your neighbours in their beds isn't being drawn into a bloody fight.

I suppose you would say that every war since, I guess, Marathon, constitutes murder; regardless of the causes at stake.

    Note to weka:

Irony..eh..?..the random blocking of my ability to comment is stopping me replying to your comment to me..

Any-hoo…I don't see myself in either camp..

..I would preach for tolerance for all…

Way back when I had trans friends..hello sally!..hello tilly..!.I thought this intolerance was coming to an end..there was absolutely no 'other' about them..it just never entered the mind..

    And re feminism..

I hold with the contention you cannot be the father of a daughter..and not be a feminist..

And I read lots of the books..I named my daughter after simone de bouvier..

So I do object to being labelled a 'pro-genderist'..in the way that term is used here..

    And as anti-feminist..?..(!)

I am amazed at the failure of political parties of all stripes..to not fix the equal pay issue..it is so black and white..as just one example of my views..

I also feel I have an understanding of the inequities involved..in that most children are raised by the mother..

I raised my son from when he was a baby…I was his prime caregiver..as a sole parent..

So I have experienced what many women experience..

So I am somewhat discombobulated by the allegation I am anti-feminist..eh..?

All I am calling for is tolerance for all..and an end to the 'other'ing..

I didn't say that pro-genderist is anti-feminist, you just added that on.

Do you support female only spaces like toilets, refuges, women's groups, that exclude trans women?
