There was an interesting article in the NZ Herald sometime last year about the wealth status of MPs (mainly based on multiple property ownership). With a few exceptions, most of the characters on their ''rich list" were National MPs. I think that speaks ...
So as we wave goodbye to Campbell LIve we say hello to "The Young and The Clueless". Welcome to a new dumber and dumber New Zealand.
Signed everything I have been able to find so far. Will write a letter and put it here for delivery to the relevant parties later today. Julie Christie and Mark Weldon are to NZ television what Daesh or IS are to ancient Assyrian artifacts and buildings.
Just a reminder, police policy since the year dot is to alert the 'powers that be' of any upcoming criminal action involving an MP, as part of the 'no surprises' protocol.
So Mr Grosser's conversations are being hoovered up by the GCSB? Interesting. Presumably they are passing them on to the NSA for perusal at their leisure. When the NSA find out Mr G is a Muslim...?
Congrats to the Black Caps for a great summer of cricket, they kept us all enthralled. I too am bemused by the uniform which only suggested ANZ (dreadful bank) and the Gnatz - maybe they were the kiss of death last night. My old dad was a bit of a ...
Friends near Kerikeri know the full Sabin story, but won't risk discussing it with their friends on email, only face to face. We do live in a five eyes state. Does anyone know people who feel the same way?
Never bought from them and now, never will. Do they have slides for their employees to use to get down to lower levels? They should install them, after all they are promoting having fun aren't they?
Friends, Romans, Northlanders (er.. is Rome in Northland? Must be.) How about a new coliseum - for bread and circuses.
Interesting revelation. However, worryingly, the GNats are pulling out all the stops to get their people voting early, presumably before any more unfortunate developments. And according to the media, early voting is up by about 100% in northland.
KGB, FSB, GCSB - they all sound pretty similar to me, especially when it comes to 'dirty tricks'. More pollonium anyone?
It may be of interest to some, and Kaipara residents in particular who feel queezy about voting for Winston, to be reminded of the passage of that Bill through the house. Winston and NZ First opposed the Bill on principle, because it sought to legitimise ...
No - I am a respectable grandmother and like many grandmothers, I sometimes like to tell bedtime stories. Here's one I have been wanting to share for some time. There was once a well known chap who lived in a nice big house in Parnell, one of Auckland's ...
Sorry, I meant it was the crocodile that smiled, and looked a bit like Winston.
I think he did. And when he smiled he looked a bit like Winnie...
I know, it was a bit of a risk sharing this, but I thought it might be good for a laugh, even if only at my own expense.
People telling you what they dreamt about last night is really boring but I hope readers will indulge me. I dreamed that Mr Key was bitten by a crocodile that was in my care. Actually he was quite good about it. Perhaps I am a little too preoccupied with ...
Yes, Malconz, had the exact same thought. Rodders probably thinks The Last Supper is just a scruffy dawb anyway and who says you can't do what you like with anything you have paid for. Ask Mr Liu.
For the past week I have been having fantasies about abbatoirs in Vicky Ave and panel beaters in Long Drive.
Well I've reminded myself lately that I have a pretty poor opinion of Auckland architects who, with a few notable exceptions are an arrogant, philistine, money grubbing lot. They assume a superiority when it comes to taste and style which they have not ...
Have read that there has been a lot of early voting in the by election. (No booth open here in Mangawhai area until March 23.) Talk of Nats hearding their faithful to the polls before they learn the full details of the Sabin debacle. Worringly, there are a...
It has been done, but I'm sure it's much harder and far more expensive than it was in the past. We saved Newmarket Park from the Grammar Rugby Club's little scheme to turn it into a booze barn so they could sell the land they owned next door - back in the ...
Yes I think there have been conversations, but I am not aware of many details. I did hear that someone who used to be closely associated with Sabin ( who doesn't live in Mangawhai, but further north) referred to him in very negative terms (sorry I won't ...
Thanks, I appreciate that.
Here's my 2 cents worth - I live just outside Mangawhai and was at the local farmers market and able to see and hear Winston and his audience. He was well received and pressed all the right local buttons - lack of railway to Marsden Point for heavy ...
I wonder if Plunkett will dare show his face at the next Auckland Writers and Readers Festival? The festival organisers should invite him to chair a debate or do an author interview anyway. It would be a great opportunity for those attendees (both writers ...
Need to remember that most of those who vote are well healed retired Aucklanders or farmers. The long term permanents in the towns would not vote National - if they voted at all, but they are probably a minority (if you take out Whangarei).
They are a funny lot up here in some parts of Northland. I did lots of telephone canvassing for Willow-Jean in the Kaiwaka, Mangawhai area during the general election campaign. (And by the way, she would make a great MP.) Kaiwaka seemed quite pro Labour ...
Just a 'devil's advocate' question: If a horse could have won the Northland seat for National in the General Election, why couldn't Sabin have been forced to stand down in favour of a new candidate, by the Nat hierarchy? Is there a 'rule' or law requiring ...
ooh yuck. Are you going to moderate yourself? Actually, it did make me larf.
Damage mode is at full throttle... look over there says Kim Jong Kee. I had dins with Mr Obama and he might come down and see y'all ... sometime. Are we distracted by this breathless piece of exciting news? I don't think so.
