I just saw it on RNZ and that was my first thought too. The Nats will be spewing!
Can you elaborate a bit? What's he done this time?
I can't paste links while using the cellphone, sorry mods! But on Stuff is an article about the Posie Parker juice thrower applying to have their charges dismissed. She cited the Stephen Joyce dildo thrower not being charged as a precedent. The judge so ...
Agreed, he may be a knave, but he's certainly no fool.
Predictions for the debate tonight? Chippy land some king hits on DeLuxe, but Lux picks up some sympathy points, like Brash all those years ago?
It's not actually a fait accompli that they'll get in, you know. Just a reminder 🙂
Gordon Campbell elaborates: http://werewolf.co.nz/2023/09/gordon-campbell-on-the-centre-rights-credibility-problems/ "The centre-right’s credibility problems have spread from National to its erstwhile coalition partner. ACT’s problems of late have been ...
This guy was on an RNZ story this morning again. It's a pretty big deal, no sane person could ever vote for this Nat govt. They are glaringly inept, no matter how much you want to 'punish' the govt.
Ugh, yes, that was a massive embarrassment. But Chippy it's not TLP, thank goodness.
This is such a relief to read, thanks Weka. Being such an (unnecessarily) controversial subject, an unheralded, understated reclamation of the language might just resolve the current mess. Like Māori language advancement, which was a slow grind that became...
If they have to live in them at all now, you can guarantee that law will get changed when ACT starts throwing its weight around. Investors will be grovelled to.
The cat is out of the bag. They're either bullshitting or grossly financially incompetent. Both are disastrous. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/election-2023/497974/economists-analysis-rubbishes-national-s-foreign-buyers-tax-numbers
Quite right. I'd rather they were out all together and will vote and advocate along those lines.
Would it actually be ok for NZF to get in again? It could be such a chaotic, unstable, bickering govt with NZF, NAT, ACT that it would collapse and relegate them to opp for ages.
With typically overblown hyperbole he said Grant Robertson will go down as one of New Zealand’s “worst finance ministers”. I thought we weren’t doing nasty personal attacks this election, Christopher?
Nice try. People hop across the spectrum all the time. If the Brook van Delden can go from Greens to ACT, it can definitely happen the other way.
Well what d'ya know? The economy is better than expected. National must be spewing! https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/497824/election-2023-pre-election-economic-and-fiscal-update-release-government-books-in-better-shape-than-expected
Totally agree. A golden mandate just squandered by TLP. But many young people also know that a home is useless if it just gets burned/blown down/flooded/uninsurable due to CC.
The most ridiculous thing so far!
What I’m hoping is that there will be a whole load of young people, who don’t respond to polls, that will be attracted by these. Hopefully enough to tip the balance.
That’s interesting, can you elaborate a bit?
I take it you’ve read through today’s Open Mike? Yes it’s just ‘reckons’, but there is some good insight there. TS commenters are no slouches; it’s not as bad as the MSM reporting makes it out to be. https://thestandard.org.nz/open-mike-12-09-2023/#...
I can't paste from the mobile, but there is an article on what am ACT govt would look like, it's about 6 articles back 👍
That's so believable it's triggering.
Hmm I don't quite get it, is that like the phrase "people get the government they deserve" or "be careful what you wish for"?
While I agree, I think we should retire the phrase "avoid like the plague". Turns out many people don't avoid plagues these days, and go nuts if you ask them to 🥴🥴🥴
I tend to agree. They'll get voted in on promises then find a way to not implement them, or screw it up. Another working group, an incompetent minister, a realisation that it's 'not the right time', an assurance that it will be done next term, if you vote ...
I agree with the above comments. The whole point is to "teach to the test", where good grades can be touted; while at the same time, the populace gets dumber thus easier to control and coerce. Look at the USA. It's no coincidence that country has a high ...
Bit of a heated response. You may or may not be aware, but a lot of the rest of us hate that attitude farmers pull out: I'll do what I like (such as skiing!), the rest of you can damn well subsidize it, because it's my "right", and no one tells me what to ...
How can Seymour Butts be so cruel? He comes across as a nice guy. He can't really be that out of touch thinking it won't harm hungry kids if he slashes lunches? What is he really thinking? I think he's dangerous but never suspected he was actually evil.
Don't forget Hipkins is fighting not only Luxon but the MSM as well. Remember how poorly Don Brash did in the debates? His excuse was that he 'didn't want to interrupt a woman when she was speaking'! This was what was reported and a whole legion of msm ...
