The most interesting thing about this cartoon is that its putting the working class into mainstream political discourse, even if its only in the realm of political satire. Can anyone name the last time the working class was depicted in a political cartoon? Also, although it is clearly using hyperbole it portrays workers as oppressed and exploited, directly challenging the type of “we’re all middle class now” myths neoliberalism has woven.
In short, good cartoon.
The cliche is true – a picture is worth a thousand words.
The rich, like the poor, will always be with us, to put it Biblically.
