The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

National claims the problem of sufficiency of power supply increased under the past government and says the cause is the ban on new gas exploration.
This is clearly wrong as the time from exploration to discovery and then to domestic supply of gas has a longer timeline.
It also claims a factor was the former government consideration the Onslow dam proposal deterring new power generation.
This is also wrong for the same reason – because of the time frame for new power generation to be realised. And the problem is in part that one alternative supply – wind power does not operate when it is so calm. The solution to that problem requires battery storage.

Apparently there is planned maintenance at some power stations also involved – coinciding with lack of wind and a cold period not being part of the now not convenient timing.
They should ask the retired and those working from home without children to get up a little later than usual.
And then maybe water heating won’t need to be turned off.

Back in 1973 POTUS told the Israeli PM there would be no arms supply if they attacked first (as they had in 1967).
One wonders if the 'Rafah" policy will become a doctrine applied to block any future dahiya in Gaza?
There have already been sanctions on a WB settler unit within the IDF.
