Can't see our national party being anything but the same. Mind you, labour need partners who will kick their asses.

    Re-naming Auckland railway stations.

Where is the widespread public demand for this? There is not any.

But there is a widespread public demand to rein in wasteful council spending.

Start saving money by firing the people who foist this stupidity on us.

Government is supposed to do what the majority of the people want done. For some in local government this is a foreign concept. It is called “democracy.”

This is the article that this OTT comment from Max Moss is referencing.

Here is some info about the NZ Geographic Board.

There are many small agencies in any Govt that work hard to keep standards in place, usually in line with overseas standards & the NZ Geogrpahic Board is one of them. It works in line with with international best practice, mapping.

Making place names official enables clear communication and connections between people, places, and information. They identify where we are as we go about our everyday business.

But don't let good sense affect your argument or the fact that this is a tiny agency that had one parttimer who works on other Linz functions and a board that met three times a year. (that was the position when I worked at LINZ)

I suspect the main objection from the poster is actually the use of 'Maaari' names. The use of the words 'democracy' and the general breathless tone tends to support this.

No – legitimate governments balance the interest of all citizens as best they can. It ain't easy and it isn't helped by people with a beef against minorities wrapping themselves in the flag of 'democracy'.
