The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

It seems Matthew Hooton does not like John Key very much …

And he thinks Jacinda Ardern did a sterling job on Key today which she did but I worry about his motivation for saying so …

You think he wants Adern to replace Key as leader of National 😉 . Now that would be interesting!
Matthew Hooton does not like John Key very much …
Interesting observation. I gained the same impression after listening to last Monday’s RNZ political slot with Mike Williams. Mind you, one can never tell what Hooton’s motivation might be. Anyway for once Mike was right when he “agreed’ with Matthew.
I suspect his motivation is survival post Key.
maybe but he hates the left more – please don’t forget that in your gentlemanly approach to him.
Are we living in Alice’s Wonderland ? Ponytails for a PM, Pandas for a PM, and a giggling PM with an AB ? Nope – its not a Wonderland ….. its more like a nightmare!
Trevor Mallard in Speaker’s chair kicks Cabinet Minister Nick Smith out of chamber TWICE today!
1st time:

and
2nd time:
https://youtu.be/OngQPhc5QpY?t=66
I think the 1st time Smith must have said something nasty to the speaker who was
sitting just next to him at the table. He was asked to apologise but did it sarcastically and probably falsely. He was asked to do it properly. He was then asked to leave the chamber.
Then on his way out I think he made some nasty remark against the speaker. That is why he seems to have been recalled back into the chamber and asked to withdraw, apologise and….withdraw.
Good job. Well done the speaker.
Hi Clem, I would like to agree with you.
I was left with the impression that mallard looked like wanker.
And twyford reffered to mallard as Mr chairman. Is this an alternative title for the speaker?
Hello there,
When in committee they have a chairman/person.
thank you.
