This is good news. Especially for the police as most news about them has been negative lately. They have caught them. Now don't let them out to do it again as someone is going to get hurt if this keeps happening.

TV1 poll, nothing changes, so now every commentator will try and provide meaningful commentary on nothing happening.

The funniest part of their report was Luxon saying his numbers aren't improving because people don't know him yet. No Chris … they were better before people got to know you. That's the problem. You being you is Jacinda's best hope for a 3rd term. You might not be smart enough to grasp that but I bet Nicola is.

Nailed it. I thought ha! More people are seeing right through you! You have nothing to offer this country.

      Move on Luxon.

        No, please keep him.

A few months ago I said on here that National would dump him, but I'm less sure now. He's obviously out of his depth, but the dilemma for National is that the party polling is OK (not great) despite Luxon. So they don't have a pretext.

But compare Luxon's numbers with Key's, last time National won from opposition. Not even close. He's not Key 2008, he's Brash 2005, and they lost that one.

Ideologically, he's Kami-Kwasi without the posh accent and meaningless ethnic diversity.

Absolutely agree. Results between the left and right blocs are still too close to call (within margin of error). And it is entertaining to see the commentariat struggle to read the entrails from results which are essentially identical to last month.

It seems as though neither the Sharma saga nor the Uffindell affair have had any influence on poll results – both being essentially beltway issues so far as the majority of voters are concerned.

I am surprised that the two weeks of the PM being on the world stage during the polling period did not appear to move Labour much.

      The world isn't being polled.

    • Grey Area 3.2

Why? Maybe most people see this sort of international activity (you might call it grandstanding but I couldn't possibly comment) as immaterial. Jacinda Ardern needs to rediscover her mojo and work for New Zealanders and fix our problems. Nuclear-free moment anyone?

      • observer 3.2.1

It's not "grandstanding" to do what every other PM would do or has done. Two events that any PM would attend. Literally, part of the job.

        • Grey Area 3.2.1.1

Fair enough but so is taking climate collapse far more seriously and I'd prefer she concentrated on that. Or at least do both.

Also on the world stage: Liz Truss, Joe Biden, Justin Trudeau, pretty much every leader turned up at the UN and/or Queen's funeral, and their own national media covered it extensively.

But that doesn't affect polls much because all their countries have major economic problems. Fortunately, NZ less than most.

While she is over seas the PM should take up President Zelensky's invitation to visit Kiev, her polling would shoot through the roof.

A whole two weeks, you don’t say?

The FSU are reporting a woman lost her job from Bluebird for posting a comment about Te Reo Whittakers chocolate on her personal social media account. She was fired.

The government is sneaking in another 3000 minimum wage workers and these ones will be entitled to sick pay! What kind of sleazy weasels have been running this shitshow?

We should have the jobs of ministers and corrupt MBIE staff that ever denied sick pay to these workers – and the Minister of Labour should taken to task about it. But wait – there is no Minister of Labour any more.

This facilitates the betrayal of NZ workers from whom this despicable crew of neo-liberal fakers take their name 🙁 .

I watched that yesterday, both her and his missives.

I suggest that people go watch it too, not because they might like it, i doubt they would. But the dude has a point, when so-called progressives politics leave large swathes of people behind in the name of inclusivity, when national identity is being stripped in the name of EU, when polititians no longer work for the country but some overseas institutions / think tank then maybe maybe the few people that still go to vote will vote for the opposition.

And to strip the identity of 'christian' 'women' 'mother' from italian women is pretty much a death wish. And trying to strip the Italians of their identity is the same. But then, i guess some don't understand that. And fwiw, it would be interesting to see the breakdown of the votes by birth sex – male vs female. Male as in male adult human and female as in female adult human.

Also, everyone born on this planet had a birthing parent who spend a lot of time with their children and in the kitchen, and some even in the church/mosque/temple/coven. And much to the surprise of some, some even like their kitchens, their children and even their religious places of worship.

    Tl;dr – the Italian center-left couldn't/wouldn't/didn't unite.

NASA managed to score a direct hit on an asteroid, pretty amazing especially when you consider all Elon Musk's products have managed to hit so far is pedestrians.
