The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...
The server will be getting hardware changes this evening starting at 10pm NZDT.
The site will be off line for some hours.
Less than 12 weeks to September 19.
More toxic and corrupt MPs for the new Nat leadership to clean out.

Absolutely appalling, the thin end of wedge, just more evidence the Chinese have no interest in democray, free speech and transparency.
We need to enforce the fact he's answerable to the NZ public and failure to meet those guidelines should result in imediate removal from our parliament and escorted out of NZ, we don't need friends of John Key riding rough shot like he's still living in China
We need to reinforce the fact that he is being paid as MP by the NZ public. Aren't we sweet.
He's here to keep new New Zealanders informed of what's expected of them.

Still a lot of don't knows.
Here's an idea for free. How's about we get the Greens to devise Labour Party policy.
But ULTIMATELY, there's just one problem though, if and when either/or, or both are elected in that space going forward.
It'll be about implementation of the policies and the capabilities of people in each of the parties that can pull it off.
SO…….. there's half a dozen in Labour front of House genuine true-blooded Kiwis, and then possibly three or four in the Greens (even if they are bloody imports), and if they get erected that are capable.
Should be enough. Sure as shit it'd beat the gNats and who and whatever they could cobble together.
I might even reserve a place, a case of Charders and a few bottles of whiskey for a post-election shindig in the Rapa. Already got a place to crash
Australians have started panic buying toilet paper again.
It just has so many uses – but wait, should they buy 2 or 3 ply? I think once you have tried 3 ply you will never go back to that thin stuff again, your fingers go right through it – Oogh.
And while stocking up remember what Weird Al Yankovich said in roblogics comment below about aluminium foil's safety properties, especially when worn as pointy-hats.
82,000 people tested for covid in the last few weeks, all negative. 9 people currently isolating with the virus, all from overseas.
What a shambles. A Shambles, like a shandy but with a sparkler sitting in it (it eventually fizzes out).
Actually, the opposition are a bit of a'shambles, "bring in 10,000 students", "Ghost homeless man" & whatever Goldsmith was going on about. Paula, there's a story she's to help Hooton with the campaign, if so expect more nasty bile.
Since National should have a good shadow cabinet ready, who would you think they might name as Minister of current shambles?
Paul Goldfish will be moving on to new made-up points.
Todd Muller also saying today its not tenable to keep the border closed for the next year. Make up your bleeding mind
Ahahaha yeah like she did a bang-up job promoting Simon Bridges

A bit of silliness for fellow night owls:
So good roblogic – and Weird Al.
They've just cancelled APEC as a real event, and put the whole thing online.
This is a really massive blow to the re-start of the New Zealand economy, and not a great signal for us as a business-prepared country.

If there is a vaccine, its not that important to a recovery underway and if there is no vaccine and continued spread never going to happen.
As the EU opening up travel to New Zealanders yesterday shows, there are many shades in between that false binary.
Really? Name one country with less community spread than us ….
Or do you mean collecting two week quarantine payments from Kiwis coming back from Europe as a hotel earner …
PS We are already selectively allowing people in (film, Am Cup, skilled workers) and via quarantine. We will continue with that model (one would be professional skiers here for a month or two)
