David Seymour is the smeghead of the year

I know the year is only part way through and that it is election year so there will be endless opportunities for politicians to be really dickish about things but I think we should call it now. We have a winner. No politican will be able to do worse than this.

The smeghead of the year is David Seymour.

Why?

Among all of the stupid things that politicians, mainly right wing politicians, do, what could he have done that was so bad?

Well he made a really bad taste joke about Pike River. Where 29 workers lost their lives because of corporate incompetence and greed. Where families still grieve and want the Government to honour it’s broken promise to bring the bodies out.

Imagine the most stupid thing you could say. It would probably be along the lines of making sure that someone else died in the mine.

Yep that is what Seymour promised. From Newshub:

Act Party leader David Seymour has been denounced for a joke he made saying he would “close the door” on New Zealand First leader Winston Peters if he re-entered Pike River mine.

During his election campaign, Mr Peters has repeatedly insisted he would only work with a Government which stuck to several ‘bottom lines’ – including manned re-entry into the Pike River mine.

“Re-entry of Pike River is one I agree with, I’ll be there to close the door after him,” Mr Seymour told Newshub.

I suspect that no one, absolutely no one will vote for ACT on the West Coast this year.  And for the people of Epsom and I urge you to hold your breath, say a prayer and vote Paul Goldsmith when you vote at this election.

You should run a poll on the stupidest comments by politicians during 2017, this would make the list as would Hone’s death penalty bigotry burp and there’s bound to have been plenty more and they stupid will ramp up over the next few months.

Perhaps Browning will call for the use of homeopathy as an Ebola treatment again ?

    More smegma than smeghead.

  3. Psych nurse 3

And if your wondering, smegma is the detritis that collects under foreskins.

I watched a q&a session of red dwarf fans with the some of the cast.
Going well till a young female fan asked “what is smeg?”.
They literally shrunk away and hid under the table.

And here was me thinking it was a fancy word for “fucken idiot.”

Smeg is also the name of an Italian manufacturer of upmarket domestic appliances.
And just like a Smeg fridge, he opens up with a frosty reception.

So the right has got the knives out for the right.

Just shows how bereft the far right are of any human decency.

  6. savenz 6

The question is, is David Seymore even human? Maybe he’s just a National plus 1 robot ATM, designed to take in taxpayer money while spouting political slogans and propping up other RWNJ.s…

Seriously check yourself into hospital if you actually vote ACT. What is their purpose?

Vote National in Espom this year.

    • Oh he’s human. It takes bull-headed human stupidity to continue with his sort of behaviour and double-down on it when called out.

    • CLEANGREEN 6.2

Yeah David Seymour is a robot alright.

He shows no human compassion at all does he.
Vote national in Epsom? – Oh yes National will beat him and act is gone Hurray!!!!!

  7. Vomkrieg 7

Also, in case people didn’t get the joke. Smeghead is a common insult in the Sci-Fi comedy “red dwarf”. Which features an obnoxious pretentious hologram called Rimmer, you can tell he’s a hologram because of the H on his forehead (like the photo above)

This short clip sums up Rimmer, and why Seymour is a total and utter rimmer

Better urge the Labour/Green voters to hold their nose and vote Paul Goldsmith when they vote at this election.

Funnily enough, they can make both their votes count!

  9. James 9

Have to agree – it’s a pretty poor taste joke.

  10. lprent 10

The other day, I heard this dimwitted smeghead lying about me.

He said that taxpayers demanded that Turia paid back WINZ.

I never ever said that. Yet this pompous self entitled bludger on taxpayers and National goodwill was saying that I demanded it…

Well he can take that along with those other lying and completely untrustworthy shitheads at the “Taxpayers Union” (who could ever trust Jordan Williams again after listening him convicting himself of being a untrustworthy ‘friend in his trial against Craig) who also take my taxpayer status in vain.

    • Stunned Mullet 10.1

I look forward to you paying my tax.

    • Sara Matthews 10.2

She should pay it back, she took money she wasn’t entitled too, by making false statements, that’s fraud.

      • Gabby 10.2.1

        How much did she take?

      • In Vino 10.2.2

        1) to, not entitled too.
        2) she has just told you exactly that. Don’t just repeat what she has already told us – try to learn from it. It went straight over your head, didn’t it Sara?

      • adam 10.2.3

Get some perspective Sara Mathews. Where were you on the Bill English fraud? Where were you on the work place bulling? Where were you on the panama papers?

But a few hundred dollars and your frothing and ranting.

Please, God asks you to forgive, but I don’t see that. It’s sickening, have a heart and love what God asks you to love, the poor.

        • Norfolk Traveller 10.2.3.1

It’s not just a ‘few hundred dollars’. It’s likely to be in the tens of thousands.

          • Gabby 10.2.3.1.1

Let’s see your rough working then.

            • North 10.2.3.1.1.1

No Fuck Traveller’s ‘rough’…….that is to say NT’s brain, is not working. Just his/her glee gland.

            • Norfolk Traveller 10.2.3.1.1.2

The calculations can only be a guess, because of Metiria’s dishonesty. There’s been a few different options put forward, but 5 years @ 3 borders @ $60(??) is $46,800. And I’m being very generous on the rent (it’s likely to be more).

              • Cinny

NT you said it, your calculations are a guess.

An rather ill informed guess looking at your guessed numbers that you’ve based your guessed calculation on.

                • Norfolk Traveller

My figures are probably on the low side. We won’t know unless Metiria does the right thing and reveals the actual numbers.

                  • Cinny

No your figures are a way off guess NT.

She’s fronted up to media, and is happy to be investigated by WINZ for something she did almost 3 decades ago in order to feed her child.

It’s really up to WINZ to proceed from hereon in.

Meanwhile her parties policy on the matter will save lives and feed kids among other things, giving the most vulnerable (the kids) a chance in life.

There is enormous support out there for Meti, it’s all over the social media, only those desperate to stay in power will slam her for being economical with the truth in order to feed her child.

Anyways this thread should be about Rimmer and his lame attempts to stay in parliament

                    • Norfolk Traveller

“No your figures are a way off guess NT.”
                      And you know this how?

“She’s fronted up to media, and is happy to be investigated by WINZ for something she did almost 3 decades ago in order to feed her child.”
But she won’t go to them will she?

“It’s really up to WINZ to proceed from hereon in.”
So acts of dishonesty require no personal effort to remedy?

“There is enormous support out there for Meti,”
That’s anecdote. Talkback radio is pillorying her. That’s anecdote back at ya.

                    • Cinny

How do I know this NT… maybe I’ve worked for WINZ in the past.

Wondering which talkback you were listening to, which presenter, which time slot, which frequency. It’s all relevant NT

            • adam 10.2.3.1.2.1

              Completely agree with McFlock.

But the issue Norfolk Traveller, is you want a hate discussion, not a love one. And that is a problem.

The fact you went straight to the money part of what I said, says somthing about you and a devotion to cupidity, and not being able to forgive is a real problem.

              • Norfolk Traveller

This is about money, Adam. Metiria defrauded the taxpayer. What do you want to measure this in, Jellybeans?

Read the fucking article I am highlighting the fact that if you are SO concerned about the money, what is your level of concern or lack of over this giant fucking rip off.
I am not discussing Peter Theil I am discussing the crap you are coming out about the amount of money she did/did not rip off.

                    • Norfolk Traveller

“I am highlighting the fact that if you are SO concerned about the money…”
Yes I am. Meteria committed fraud is not even sorry about it. If that’s the standard you hold those you support to, I pity you.

Don’t patronise me pal about pitying me

Pity is the last thing I need especially from a rabid rightwinger, and how do you know I support her? You haven’t a clue about that and other things. Please tell me where I stated that I support her?

You are typical of the brain dead of the right wing.
Have a simplistic look on the world anything on the right is good anything on the left bad.
I repeat again If you are so concerned over Meteria, to give a bit of balance give us your views on the rip off I pointed out to you.

“Please tell me where I stated that I support her?”
I said ‘if’. Based on your comments, you have a reading and language difficulty. Yes, I pity you.

Your English in that reply leaves a lot to be desired, so join the club you patronising fuckwit.
You STILL haven’t answered my request about giving us your opinion on that rip off vs Metiria’s fraud

                    • Norfolk Traveller

“Your English in that reply leaves a lot to be desired, so join the club you patronising fuckwit.”
                      No, nothing wrong with it.

“You STILL haven’t answered my request about giving us your opinion on that rip off vs Metiria’s fraud”
Actually I did…again you seem to have trouble reading.
Metiria committed fraud. Peter Thiel, from what I understand, exploited a loophole that should never have existed. From a moral perspective, probably both are as bad as each other. But Peter Thiel isn’t standing for public office, and isn’t being blindly defended by people like you.

Thems the figures the sewer dwellers are throwing around.

              • McFlock

Probably some back-of-the-envelope bullshit with massive assumptions.

If she or winz come to a number, fine. But tories like to lie.

                • Norfolk Traveller

She’s not going to WINZ though, is she? Only if they come to her!

                  • McFlock

And if they do, the two parties will come to a number.

Even then, tories like you will continue to make shit up.

                    • Norfolk Traveller

…and that number will be in the tens of thousands, not the hundreds. But only when Metiria has the decency to front.

                    • McFlock

                      You’re still making shit up.

You took five flats, three with undeclared flatmates, and came up with a figure based on five years of three undeclared flatmates @$60/wk.

Whereas three years of one flatmate @$60/wk isn’t even ten grand and that’s if the flatmates were there for the full year than a 40wk academic year. Or it could have been part-year flatmates, or just a few months on and off in each place.

All we know for sure is that you’re making shit up, and you’re making it up stupidly.

          • Cinny 10.2.3.1.3

On what do you base your assumption NT?

It’s more likely to be less than AWOL Todd Barclays weekly salary.

  11. What is about these 3 feet, 20 inches males ?

Seymour is just like that Hosking galoot , along with you know Henry.
All short and with little substance.

  12. Norfolk Traveller 12

“Where families still grieve and want the Government to honour it’s broken promise to bring the bodies out.”

John Key did not ‘promise’ to “bring the bodies out”.

    Here’s exactly what he said:
“The first thing is I’m here to give you absolute reassurance, we’re committed to getting the boys out, and nothing’s going to change that. So – when people try and tell you we’re not, they’re playing, I hate to say it, but they’re playing with your emotions.”
    https://thestandard.org.nz/pike-river-new-video-footage-proves-key-made-the-promise-he-denies/

The commitment remains, but there was no promise of success, particularly when the circumstances of the mine are so precarious. Re-entering the mine would be a high risk exercise that would place other lives at risk and the state in a position of potential liability. It should not even be contemplated until those risks are mitigated.

  13. RRM 13

Maybe a good Union man like Andrew Little could lead an expedition into the mine?

    • Sara Matthews 13.1

Winston has stated he’s willing to be in the first re-entry crew, he does that though, makes policies and comments he can’t back up.

    • Norfolk Traveller 13.2

The hypocrisy of Andrew and the EPMU on Pike is well detailed at http://nzagainstthecurrent.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/how-andrew-little-failed-pike-river.html?m=1.

      • Gabby 13.2.1

The union had good access to the mine and the miners were union members right?

        • Norfolk Traveller 13.2.1.1

Yes. I encourage you to read the link I provided, it is well researched and referenced. Here’s a taster:

“After the first explosion the EPMU strongly defended the management of PRC.
EPMU National secretary Andrew Little (now a Labour MP) told the New Zealand Herald on November 22 2010 that there was “nothing unusual about Pike River or this mine that we’ve been particularly concerned about”. He then appeared on TVNZ’s Close Up to again defend PRC management. He told Close Up that underground mining was inherently unsafe and the risk of gas explosions, particularly on the West Coast, was high. While the industry was aware of the risks and took the necessary precautions, unfortunately these kinds of incidents still happened, he argued.
On November 26, 2010 the Dominion Post ran an article that denounced ‘wild’ rumours that the mine was not safe. It declared that “Any suggestion of obvious or known safety lapses does not find traction with unionised staff or union leader Andrew Little.””

          • Gabby 13.2.1.1.1

Turned out the rumours were right.

Dick Knapp did his best to keep the unions and any pesky kids well clear of the workplace didn’t he. Where is good ole Dick these days.

            • Norfolk Traveller 13.2.1.1.1.1

If, as you claim, “Dick Knapp did his best to keep the unions and any pesky kids well clear of the workplace”, why was Andrew Little and the EPMU giving the safety standards at the mine such support?
The incompetence, and then later hypocrisy, of the EPMU must not be allowed to be forgotten.

              • Gabby

Good question. Maybe the union got too worried about job losses.

That’s probably why the Knapper cut some corners. Wonder where he is these days.

      • Psycho Milt 13.2.2

Against the current? Steven Cowan’s a Trotskyist from way back. His real enemy in any dispute is the Labour Party and other groups that help keep capitalism in existence by alleviating its oppression of workers. The only person more likely to blame Andrew Little for the Pike River disaster would be Peter Whittle.

  14. Ad 14

Could some decent Epsom candidate for Labour just sand on Act’s neck and shoot it?

They are just such sucky sad fucks they make the ultimate planetary essence of universal sucky sadfuckness kinda up-looking.

  15. mosa 15

I have been on the receiving end of Seymours sarcasm and the problem is that he thinks he is being funny he also opens his mouth before his brain kicks into gear and you get this type of insensitive crap.

But ACT is a corporate party so no one should be surprised it’s how corporate entities view the world…..everyone is expendable where profit is involved and that is how Seymour looks at the world and his country.
