Farrar lies again

For the second time in as many weeks, David Farrar has lied to his readers over at kiwiblog.

The first lie was that David Cunliffe had pledged to change electoral law under urgency with no consensus . That is complete and utter bollocks, Cunliffe said no such thing, all he said was that Labour would introduce a policy, no mention of urgency etc. See for yourself here.

The second lie from Farrar is in a post today that claims Labour’s earthquake court already exists (it doesn’t) and he also claims the taxpayer would pay for all costs of the court. Again a lie, the cost of the courts will be added to the settlements which the insurance companies will pay if they lose.

Farrar shows he is being deceptive by quoting the first sentence in the paragraph…To reduce the burden on families all costs, including lawyers’ costs and expert witness fees, will be paid for by the Crown.
Yet he ignores the second sentence..The Crown will recoup those costs from the insurance companies and EQC as a levy in proportion to the size of the awards granted by the Court.

Even though it is Farrar we’re talking about, these tactics from him are really pathetic.

We should all call Farrar’s blog: Kiwiliar

    Btw, thanks Geoff
Good to see Labour will be a fair government and will serve the interest of justice for Chch

    • ghostwhowalksnz 1.1

Ive all ways called it Farragoblog, which aptly decribes as a mixed fodder of deceit and misinformation

    • Skottowe 1.2

Perhaps Farrar’s confused Cunliffe with Josie Pagani….

  2. tc 2

Get used to it from the penguin, his future earnings are highly geared toward the Nats getting back in.

Blubber boy will be handling the more toxic end of their spectrum, with DPF smudging and spinning his ‘end’ for all he is worth.

Shonkey’s created and fostered a public association with these bloggers so perhaps someone in the MSM should ask JK why his blogger mate and former nat party CIO is struggling with the facts.

Cuts both ways Johnny boy once you endorse them.

    • Tom Gould 2.1

Follow the money … not that the brain-dead chooks will remember … those who aren’t doing corporate cronies gigs on the side …

  3. framu 3

“Even though it is Farrar we’re talking about, these tactics from him are really pathetic.”

considering the tax payers astroturf unit and that BS with the dictator billboards this is just standard operating procedure from him

    pathetic – yes
    out of character – no

    • ghostwhowalksnz 3.1

He did get arrested back in the nineties when he started in parliament/national party’s dirt unit for some stunt he was involved in.

Hasnt changed a bit from the time he was Don Brashs email system administrator. Make of that what you wish !

  4. Tracey 4

Hooton could barely contain his giggles when he mentioned it… Suggests labour has hit a nerve.

  5. blue leopard 5

…and yet like the last lie, it will simply be copy and pasted into the mainstream news reports – no critique, just stated as The Truth.

  6. infused 6

It’s funny how everyone says they don’t read DF’s blog, yet there are posts about it every day.

    • redfred 6.1

I’ve looked once or twice but never inhaled; the brain dead comments show the ill health effects in abiding in that toxic rubbish.

Interesting that he isn’t popping over to refute this outrageous slander!

    • Tracey 6.2

      hilarious even.

  7. Tiger Mountain 7

I’m not “everyone” and definitely do not read the simpering little toads scrawlings at malodorous source; just the references to them.

Farrago is on direct feed from the National Party and its backers so no clicks from me.

    • Tracey 7.1

i never go to oilslick and have been to farrars for his posts on urgency statistics.

  8. Anne 8

This is National’s top strategy for the campaign. Lie, misrepresent, and defame every mortal policy plank or promise made by Labour or the Greens.

Isn’t it time both parties started issuing thinly disguised threats of legal proceedings (or something similar) every time there is a blatant lie that can be backed up with documented evidence it is a lie? That would stop the likes of Key, Joyce, Hooton, Farrar and Slater in their tracks.

  9. Gosman 9

I think you’re engaging with semantics here. The point David Farrar was making was that making it easier to litigate by removing any potential costs might mean people are more ready to do so rather than negotiate a settlement. Nothing you have brought up changes that point.

    • Tracey 9.1

has farrar got the figures for negotiated settlements, time period to settlement, and percentage of claim settled?

If he hasnt he is expessing an unsupported opinion. He is entitled to do so, but not for others to trumpet as reasoned.

How cool that david has you as his personal interpreter.

    • Crashcart 9.2

      Actually it is Key.

There is no removal of costs. It is still in the best interest of the insurance company to settle as they will eventually have to pay increased costs back to the government. It actually shifts things back into equilibriam. Currently most home owners could not afford to continue to push for what they are entitled to because their budget will not allow it. Insurance companies have their own lawyers and can go for as long as they like. This means people had to cave and take what they could get. Now the legal costs are not the limiting factor perhaps it can come down to that crazy thing of people getting what they deserve.

      • framu 9.2.1

        “Actually it is Key.”

something which needs to be said every time whale and penguin open their mouths – these guys arent acting by themselves

      • Bearded Git 9.2.2

+1 Crashcart. Well said and correct.

The top 1% always find it difficult to understand how the average person simply can’t afford a lawyer at $500 and hour (plus expenses of course).

    • geoff 9.3

Gosman youre an ignorant idiot, the perfect tool for farrars lying.
The opposite of what you are claiming is true, this policy will be an incentive for quick settlement.

      From a stuff article:

Cunliffe said it worked as “added incentive” for
insurance companies to settle outstanding claims
as quickly as possible, before they resulted in
      litigation.

      http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/10134984/Labour-promises-quake-court-and-flooding-work

    • North 9.4

Goosesman you’re such a pathetic apologist. A much more adept liar. Look at his words. Nothing of what you say can possibly be implied from the words he quotes. He says simply the Crown will pay. Full stop. Piss off you lying right wing arsehole.

  10. NZJester 10

He just learned form his Hero John how to stretch the Truth.

  11. TheContrarian 11

Just out of curiosity – is the picture of Farrar on the front-page intended to be a gut-shot of the previously rotund Farrar? Because “hur hur, he’s fat” is a little juvenile, no?

    • lprent 11.1

Nope. Newish author who now knows that if you put in a photo that is tall, that the featured image tool with cut off the top and bottom.

You have to make mistakes to learn.

In this case what he should learn is to get a copy of gimp (or something like it) on his system to change the canvas size of portrait images. It isn’t so bad on landscape ones as most people put the important bits in the middle.

He probably just got it off the media library in the system. That has images of DPF going back to early 2000’s.

    • North 11.2

He is. And immensely ugly. Body and soul. Happy ?

  12. fisiani 12

The readership figures of Kiwiblog and Whale Oil versus The Standard mirrors the current National 47 Labour 27 ratio. Funny that.

  13. dimebag russell 13

so then he is a big fat liar, hur hur hur.

[lprent: Put a point in there. And read the policy on pointed abuse. ]

  14. Clean_power 14

Mr Prentice is presently being mauled at Kiwiblog for his recent comment on Farrar.

    • McFlock 14.1

you probably just mean “being whined about by small-minded little fuckwits”, but whatever.

    • lprent 14.2

Mauled? Last time I looked there were was only David Garrett making much sense out of my several comments there today. There were a whole pile of refugees from primary school making like they were still in a playground. Most of them are rejects from here.

I’ve been having aversion behaviour today about getting back into writing code. Start writing and anything else starts feeling preferable. Classic coder block. And I was starting to get a bit sarcastic to moderate or even write comments here, so I vented there. It is after all the appropriate place for it.

Usually I don’t have any time for writing comments elsewhere. But I’m starting to get that distressing holiday twitch. The one that says I need to get off being on holiday.

      • TheContrarian 14.2.1

Classic Standard. One guy bitching about how Kiwiblog commentators are just whining like small-minded little fuckwits without a trace of irony as lPrent elevates his coding ability to god-like power all the while commenting about himself as gentlemen without time to comment.

        Never change, you darlings.

        • lprent 14.2.1.1

Not quite. Normally without time to comment.

However I’m on holiday and went over there to rark the silly sods up. Good enough for you the other way around eh?

I was also having fun looking at techniques to cause diversion commenting. Examining the current sensitivities on the likes and dislikes, and triggering the quintessential primary school atmosphere that always seems to lurk at the bottom of that site. And generally playing with disruption techniques.

Good enough to do it here in 2008, good enough to return the gift in 2014.

Did I ever mention that it isn’t a good idea to irritate any member of my family. We like to remember things that need a response.

          • The Al1en 14.2.1.1.1

“lPrent elevates his coding ability to god-like power”

“I’ve been having aversion behaviour today about getting back into writing code.”
            “Classic coder block.”
“But I’m starting to get that distressing holiday twitch. The one that says I need to get off being on holiday.”

To quote Winston Zeddemore from Ghostbusters, “when someone asks you if you’re a god, you say YES!”

Do you know anyone who works in games? I have a great idea, but my C, C+ is limited to my school grades.

            • lprent 14.2.1.1.1.1

They are have envy issues and make up things that they think I should say. Burt and Barnsley Bill being the most common ones. Don’t know why they bother myself. I guess it compensates for something.

I did work on a MMOG in 2009-10 for a year. However they had GFC financing issues. Went back to writing code for embedded systems

              • The Al1en

I know about GFC issues, I have them every week at the moment 🙂
I do have a great idea, and nobody has come out with yet. I’ll drop you a line some time at let you in on it.

I have a ghostbusters quote prepared should I ever get the right cue in – Peter Venkman: Yes it’s true. This man has no dick.

        • McFlock 14.2.1.2

Wasn’t bitching. Just pointing out that when jerks from the sewer come over here to defend the penguin, the few times I bothered to look their “mauled” arguments were all in their own mind.

Feel free to fuck off anytime, btw.

  15. dimebag russell 15

who gives a shit. the only thing davey (the fatboy) farrar can maul is a bag of chips and a hotdog! or maybe his pillow?

    • Te Reo Putake 15.1

Do keep up. Farrar has been on a fitness trip for a while now and should be congratulated for his efforts. Anti-fat bigotry is still bigotry, btw.

      • Tracey 15.1.1

over weight or skinny… he js a deceptive fellow… its that I object to.

      • greywarbler 15.1.2

I don’t like that word ‘bigotry’ being used. Sounds un-PC to fat people.
Has anyone else ever seen Ronald Searle’s unPC dictionary? He has extracted some humour out of the over-sensitives.

  16. dimebag russell 16

oh golly. I dont give a shit about fat people. what I care about is lying turds like farrar who are so ineffectual that the only way they can project any sense of self is to gross out. I am bigotted against liars and political operators who make a profession of lying for their masters for a dollar.

  17. dimebag russell 17

    hur hur hur.

  18. dimebag russell 18

he is still a liar and you are still a fool.

  19. dimebag russell 19

    yeah. gimme a beer.

  20. Clemgeopin 20

It is astounding how the Prime minister and his sidekicks, Farrar and Slater lie, exaggerate be dishonest, lack integrity and honour by misleading and misrepresenting Labour’s policies, statements and position to the public and yet manage to get a good chunk of people still support National! Why isn’t the main street media exposing this kind of dishonesty from the National camp?

    • Colonial Viper 20.1

National has far more institutional power and institutional allies in NZ than Labour does, nowadays. That’s simply a fact.

  21. dimebag russell 21

because the tories own the media. They are not interested one wit in the truth. It gets in the way of looting the treasury and paying off their mates. if you believe otherwise then you are in la la land. The only way to shift these leeches is put the blow torch on them and dont let up.
