Farrar lies again

For the second time in as many weeks, David Farrar has lied to his readers over at kiwiblog.

The first lie was that David Cunliffe had pledged to change electoral law under urgency with no consensus . That is complete and utter bollocks, Cunliffe said no such thing, all he said was that Labour would introduce a policy, no mention of urgency etc. See for yourself here.

The second lie from Farrar is in a post today that claims Labour’s earthquake court already exists (it doesn’t) and he also claims the taxpayer would pay for all costs of the court. Again a lie, the cost of the courts will be added to the settlements which the insurance companies will pay if they lose.

Farrar shows he is being deceptive by quoting the first sentence in the paragraph…To reduce the burden on families all costs, including lawyers’ costs and expert witness fees, will be paid for by the Crown.
Yet he ignores the second sentence..The Crown will recoup those costs from the insurance companies and EQC as a levy in proportion to the size of the awards granted by the Court.

Even though it is Farrar we’re talking about, these tactics from him are really pathetic.

    This is National’s top strategy for the campaign. Lie, misrepresent, and defame every mortal policy plank or promise made by Labour or the Greens.

    Isn’t it time both parties started issuing thinly disguised threats of legal proceedings (or something similar) every time there is a blatant lie that can be backed up with documented evidence it is a lie? That would stop the likes of Key, Joyce, Hooton, Farrar and Slater in their tracks.

    I think you’re engaging with semantics here. The point David Farrar was making was that making it easier to litigate by removing any potential costs might mean people are more ready to do so rather than negotiate a settlement. Nothing you have brought up changes that point.

      Actually it is Key.

      There is no removal of costs. It is still in the best interest of the insurance company to settle as they will eventually have to pay increased costs back to the government.It actually shifts things back into equilibriam. Currently most home owners could not afford to continue to push for what they are entitled to because their budget will not allow it. Insurance companies have their own lawyers and can go for as long as they like. This means people had to cave and take what they could get. Now the legal costs are not the limiting factor perhaps it can come down to that crazy thing of people getting what they deserve.

      Nope. Newish author who now knows that if you put in a photo that is tall, that the featured image tool with cut off the top and bottom.

      You have to make mistakes to learn.

      In this case what he should learn is to get a copy of gimp (or something like it) on his system to change the canvas size of portrait images. It isn’t so bad on landscape ones as most people put the important bits in the middle.

      He probably just got it off the media library in the system. That has images of DPF going back to early 2000’s.

      Mauled? Last time I looked there were was only David Garrett making much sense out of my several comments there today. There were a whole pile of refugees from primary school making like they were still in a playground. Most of them are rejects from here.

      I’ve been having aversion behaviour today about getting back into writing code. Start writing and anything else starts feeling preferable. Classic coder block. And I was starting to get a bit sarcastic to moderate or even write comments here, so I vented there. It is after all the appropriate place for it.

      Usually I don’t have any time for writing comments elsewhere. But I’m starting to get that distressing holiday twitch. The one that says I need to get off being on holiday.

          However I’m on holiday and went over there to rark the silly sods up. Good enough for you the other way around eh?

          I was also having fun looking at techniques to cause diversion commenting. Examining the current sensitivities on the likes and dislikes, and triggering the quintessential primary school atmosphere that always seems to lurk at the bottom of that site. And generally playing with disruption techniques.

          Good enough to do it here in 2008, good enough to return the gift in 2014.

          Did I ever mention that it isn’t a good idea to irritate any member of my family. We like to remember things that need a response.

              They are have envy issues and make up things that they think I should say. Burt and Barnsley Bill being the most common ones. Don’t know why they bother myself. I guess it compensates for something.

              I did work on a MMOG in 2009-10 for a year. However they had GFC financing issues. Went back to writing code for embedded systems
