Foreign jets to be based in nz, would it make us a target?

Just saying that you really don’t want to be living anywhere near any place that F-15 fighter jets (or any other fighter jets) are engaged in low flying practice – which they would be some of the time.

have to say the bogan in me loves being bussed by a fighter, had two very cool close encounters of the jet kind.
not so keen on a visit from a hostile navy fleet or a few icbm’s

We’ve always been a target, just not a key one. Admittedly one nuke on Waihopai probably blacks out a chunk of the southwest Pacific…

How do you say in French, “I am a complete moron and
want to put my name on a list with thousands of other morons”
    ?

“Je suis un imbécile. Je ne sais rien. J’aime signer des pétitions en ligne. Peu importe comment moronic ils peuvent être.”

Annette King has resigned as deputy and will not return after the election. Little is recommending Jacinta Ardern as deputy. Well done Annette for putting the party first.

Annette King is stepping down – breaking news banner on the Herald (it’s unclear at the moment if that’s just as deputy leader or if she’s retiring from politics – edit: she’s retiring).

She’s been a stabilising force in caucus and commands a lot of respect. I hope this was wholly her decision – I think she does have sound judgment and may have thought a new face in the role would help Labour’s chances.

I wonder what convinced Annette this would be the best for the Party, she certainly didn’t seem to be prepared to entertain the idea earlier this week.
Doesn’t matter it is done now, “a Great Leap Forward”, hope so.
Any chance of Trevor taking the hint?
No, I don’t think so either!

it pays to keep quiet till your ready when you have a big move planned, and i believe mallard is being lined up for speaker, hire a poacher to protect the game park and all that.

And Macbeth always inspires and shows the human condition continues unchanging….The last lines are particularly apt.

If it were done when ’tis done, then ’twere well

It were done quickly. If the assassination

Could trammel up the consequence, and catch

With his surcease success; that but this blow

Might be the be-all and the end-all here,

But here, upon this bank and shoal of time,

We’d jump the life to come. But in these cases

We still have judgment here, that we but teach

Bloody instructions, which, being taught, return

To plague th’ inventor: this even-handed justice

Commends the ingredients of our poisoned chalice

To our own lips. He’s here in double trust:

First, as I am his kinsman and his subject,

Strong both against the deed; then, as his host,

Who should against his murderer shut the door,

Not bear the knife myself. Besides, this Duncan

Hath borne his faculties so meek, hath been

So clear in his great office, that his virtues

Will plead like angels, trumpet-tongued, against

    The deep damnation of his taking-off;

And pity, like a naked newborn babe,

Striding the blast, or heaven’s cherubim, horsed

Upon the sightless couriers of the air,

Shall blow the horrid deed in every eye,
That tears shall drown the wind. I have no spur

To prick the sides of my intent, but only

    Vaulting ambition, which o’erleaps itself

    And falls on the other.

Am really proud of our local MP, thanks for speak up about this.

Damien is suggesting growing medical cannabis in NZ for those whom need it here and for export, if that happens I predict it will overtake tourism as our greatest export earner.

A high yield 90day crop that can be grown inside or outside. And did you know that it sucks up all the nitrogen in the ground, cannabis loves and thrives on nitrogen. Maybe it could suck up nitrogen from farming before it reaches the water tables.
