The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

We all know that the quality of reporting in the dom post is fast approaching zero, but it also seems their basic maths skills are also slipping.
According to the article about scientology on page B3 of today’s dom post, 600,000 euros equates to 1.2 billion NZ dollars. (interestingly, the same article on stuff says that the relevant figure is 400,000 euros? see: htttp://www.stuff.co.nz/world/europe/3004637/French-Church-of-Scientology-guilty-of-fraud)
Looks like the reporters at dom post would have benefited from Anne Tolley’s standardised testing.
Just saw in that Wodders is attempting to ensure water supply is privatised in his role as local government minister. Somebody get it up in headlines please!!!!
PS In Bolivia the water companies got frogmarched out of town by locals who revolted.
I have to give it to this Tory lot .they are very well, organized .
For instance what happens when one of them is in trouble. The English scam for instance.Well they dig up something on Labour and the Heralds gives it front page. They want to privatize water thus breaking their promise ,not privatize this term .So what do they do give it to Hide so they both win . Now they have recieved thousands of dollars worth of free advertising from the tax payer
and are getting away with it . Its time the Left started to campaign full time agaistv this sleazy lot.
And it seems that the ATA is planning to corporatise the assets of Auckland – a rather far-reaching move for an agency which was not democratically elected.
Arch Conservative Lord Michael Ashcroft seems go be spending a lot of time in Aotearoa. Gatherer of insurance companies what could interest him here,
Nick Smith is keen open up ACC to competion in other word privatize. My suspicious mind puts the two together,
Just watch carefully overv the next year or two.
Was it Lord Ashcroft who paid that flying visit tro John Key last year near the Election?
Yep.
Email just received from Phil Twyford reads as follows”
“…I have just been leaked details of the new structure of the Auckland Council which reveal the Auckland Transition Agency is planning to place control of Auckland’s assets in the hands of up to eight commercially run organisations. The proposed structure will corporatise the city leaving control of everything in the hands of CEOs and boards. The mayor and councillors will be left like beached whales…”
