There was an annoying outage in the site earlier for a few hours. The hosting site was investigating a performance issue on the server unrelated to The Standard, and took the Apache server offline for script generated HTML.
Thanks to all those who txt’ed, e-mailed, and skype’d to let me know of the problem. I was putting a post up at the time – so now I have to find if the post survived the experience.
Surprisingly, I found something else to do during the outage – the filibuster in parliament is actually fun to listen to.
You don’t have a dedicated server??
Nope. The volumes are too large for a server off the main trunks. The requirements are too small to be bothered with maintaining own own server. This costs less than $20 per month and we have to have these little issues to put up with.
