Too many “Western” countries use lack of action from big emitters (China, India, Brazil) as an excuse for doing nothing. Well that excuse just got a whole lot thinner. And the pressure on India and Brazil just stepped up.

There is a way forward – if we are wise enough to take it

Unemployment at record highs, current account deficit in trouble, the economy is stagnant, exodus to Australia, National is failing by every performance measure that they set themselves.  The completely frustrating thing is that there is a clear and rational way forward, if only we have the wisdom to take it.

Steven Joyce’s piece on Tuesday was a transparent and hypocritical attempt to frame political opponents negatively, and soften us up for more asset sales, mining, deep sea drilling and the like. Thing is, it’s the Nats with their misguided austerity cuts who are the real nay-sayers holding the country back.

Green China

I confess that I am used to thinking of China as a polluter, not much concerned with environmental standards or green technology.  I am very pleased indeed to find that I am wrong.  Green technology is yet another area where China is drawing ahead of America and much of the West.
