Cap slippery barber cuts on the way?
Personally I would prefer to follow a man who is realistic enough, and honest enough to state “there are going to be wars” than a few self-righteous musicians.

Hah! Of course he knows there’s going to be wars. He’s planning to fight and or start them. One point for honesty, minus ten points for invading people to take their oil.

If I was a betting man I’d put money on McCain to be the next president.
I also expect him to take a pragmatic approach to Iraq – talking to a number of Iraqi medics who have settled in NZ they believe it would be a disaster for the US to pull out of Iraq in the short term as the shambles that we see at present would be amplified 10 fold with the sectarian violence that would occur.
While it’s a bitter pill I don’t think there’s any alternative to the US or UN peacekeepers being in Iraq for some time to come.
I also don’t think McCain is thinking of starting any new conflicts but perhaps you are better informed than me.
My Iraqi hairdresser says the US should pull out.
Based on what reasoning Tane ?
The EX – Iraqis I’ve talked with on the subject even though vehemently Anti-American haven’t liked the idea of the US pulling out and no-one to fill the vacuum.
I think it’s going to take huge effort from the international community to sort the medd out.
The dude was saying the American troops’ very presence was causing a lot of the violence, and that for his family at least their standard of living had dropped significantly since the invasion. He also opposed the neoliberal regime foisted on the Iraqis by the US.
But hey, it’s just one dude, and you know what I say about using anecdotes as evidence.
And yeah, it probably will take a huge effort from the international community to sort the mess out, but America should pay for it.

That line is being run by the US administration, of course, it suits their agenda. And there may be some expats like your acquaintances that believe it too.
But what do the Iraqi people want? Take a guess:
