   “You’re in deep trouble” when regular doorknocking, letter stuffing, leaflet dropping centre-left party supporters like this one get a chance to post so frequently, and so prominently, on an issue like this. (The absence of Tim Ellis etc etc etc on these threads nowadays is well and truly noted!)

   Not interesting at all BB, fronting up would only have meant Goff lost credibility and Slater gained it. It would be like Key agreeing to debate Robinsod (something I think we’d all like to see), what possible gain would there be for Goff?

   Not really – he’s leader of the opposition. He goes up against the PM and possibly senior cabinet ministers depending on the circumstances. There’s simply no way he was going to debate a blogger. Makes you wonder who the hell Close Up having producing their show these days.

   Oh my God, I just watched the Closeup piece. Slater was wearing that t-shirt he made of himself with the big muscley whale on it. The man’s a laughing stock, and by association, so is Closeup now too.

   If you thought Mr Slater was defending Dr Worth, then you clearly didn’t watch the programme.

   I think it’s instructive that the same people who criticised Melissa Lee for not showing up for a TV3 interview when TV3 ambushed her over the NZOA allegations made by Mr Mallard, which later proved to be demonstrably untrue, are silent on Mr Goff not showing up for the Close-Up programme for a debate with Mr Slater.

     Tim. Cameron slater photoshopped HC’s head onto tranny pr0n . He did something similarly disgusting with a (then) 15 year old labour activist. Whaleoil published John Minto’s address details and encouraged people to let Minto know what they thought of him. Porn photoshopping, beating up on minors in public, and intimidation.

     Regardless of your politics the man is vile, vile, vile. Why on Earth would any politician want to be in the same studio as him? Seriously, you think this is something Goff should be ashamed of?

       There are words for that sort of thing, and they normally get mentioned in the court news. If this is true, then why the hell has nobody who’s familiar with this case reported it to the Police?

    I surmise Sainsbury is thinking it’s a shame Slater’s dad didn’t do the same.
    I love that Cameron was pleased with his debut and is eagerly anticipating his next big appearance… dude needs to get himself a modicum of self-awareness.

    Before seeing it, I figured the same. But I just watched this interview, and I tend to agree with Cactus Kate – underestimate at your peril. If you didn’t know he’s an unprincipled hack, it played as a decent interview by someone with evident inside knowledge who was able to speak from a perspective unconstrained by the party line. Slater’s vileness is well-known in these parts and to an extent within the beltway, but the TV audience won’t judge him on the basis of it – they’ll judge him on the basis of this interview.

    Incidentally, Matthew Hooton paid an homage to Slater’s interview this morning on Nine to Noon (audio) with the construction “Taito Phillip Field, David Benson Pope, Winston Raymond Peters”.

    Love that “I surmise” bit. Slater tries to sound in the know, Sainsbury says he must have good inside knowledge of his claim, Slater shrugs in embarrassment. Don’t wait up for your next TV appearance Cam, I’m thinking it’ll be a long time.

    Imagine, you think you’re getting a National Party insider on to talk on the record on your show, lead story, full of inside knowledge. Then a fat guy with funny hair shows up wearing a t-shirt of himself. You’re sitting there in the studio, it’s too late, and the cameras start rolling. And he turns out to be a mumbling moron with a squeaky voice who sounds like a vox pop off the street. For your lead story. Credibility: FAIL.

    The wonderful thing about Cameron is and always has been is that he doesn’t actually care what you call him! The more names you do the louder and more obnoxious are his come backs.

    Basic good manners contends you can call people fat if they are fatter than you are.

    And having seen both in the flesh I can confirm that Pork Chop is actually larger than Cameron. Cameron is also physically active at a gymnasium, whereas to Pork Chop gym is a guy she met while scoffing a workman’s breakfast at Soul.

      Besides, his mental outlook is such an abberation I don’t know why people need to resort to commenting on his physical aspect.

      Your earlier comment (and Lew’s) was right – most people who saw that would have seen a fairly reticent person who knew a fair bit as an ‘insider’ and not much more…or less.
