Grant Robertson had a highly-entertaining look at the 3 ‘contenders’ for PM in the snap debate on the National Party Leadership they had in parliament, it’s really worth a watch:
Caretaker Bill:
Cigar Coleman (also known from NZ Doctor as “To the Bedside Manor Born”, or “Dr Who?”):
Countess Homogenised:
The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about peopleâs relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...

L0L ! ….
‘Soggy chips redone in a microwave from last night’s dinner…. L00L !
Seriously ,… when you look at the caliber of all those long suppressed and forlorn characters and their factions screaming and rampaging for position like Orcs and goblins in a Lord of the Rings movie…
You realize two things.
1) Just how weak they really were as a ‘ team ‘and just how masked was all the acrimony among themselves .
2) That not only was the last and final victim of the Smiling Assassin his own political party but that those final hapless victims are just starting to realize it !!!
Talk about a bunch of motley clowns in a circus ring!!!
Strewth !!!!
+1 WILD KATIPO
That’s funny and quite clever. Who writes Robertson’s speeches?
Must be some bright spark – but all credit to Robertson for having a sense of timing and delivery !

I haven’t watched him very often, is he usually that good? I imagine the demise of Key is putting a spark in their eye too.
I guess their feeling a bit like this.
RIP Karen. Magnificent voice. And that’s coming from someone who played in a heavy metal band for 6 years !!!

Remember – he who laughs last – laughs longest.
The election is still there for National. Just that Labour *may* have a shot now.
Robertson has always (or at least when I’ve seen the vids) done very good speeches. It’s the actions away from the podium that gets him criticism.
Methinks you overestimate Labour’s resources – Robertson’s speeches are all his own work, as will be all MPs speaking in the House.
Grant is indeed quite funny and quite clever, and a regular good performer.
A string of embarrassing cheap shots. Not funny at all. The National Party might be nasty selfish bastards, but Robertson was just a complete fucking embarrassment. Idiot.
You forgot the pasteurized trash, Paula Bennett.
I like the quips that link names.
What have Coleman and English in common – mustard.
What have English and Collins in common – both important dictionaries.
And the photo with cigar – not urbane Cole Porter, but Cole man.
Thoroughly enjoyed that, Robertson was very clever and very witty.
