   What “news” is genuinely important?

   My vote today goes to General Motors’ announcement that they will end production of ALL gasoline (petrol) and diesel vehicles ASAP.

   As the world’s third largest manufacturer of automobiles, this will have an enormous impact worldwide. Any company that stays with petroleum fuels will be pushed out of the market by the regulators (as well as customers). If numerous electric vehicles are commercially available, countries (and states like California) will outlaw petrol emissions.

   I think this is much bigger news than Las Vegas, Puerto Rico, Spain, Burma, Korea, Syria, etc. It is NOT media speculation about what might happen. It is about an environmental change that WILL happen.

   The first GM electric cars will be for sale next year. At least 20 more models to follow as soon as GM can build them.

     ‘A report this week by the Food Climate Research Network, called Grazed and Confused, seeks to resolve the question: can keeping livestock outdoors cause a net reduction in greenhouse gases? The authors spent two years investigating the issue. They cite 300 sources. Their answer is unequivocal. No.

     It is true, they find, that some grazing systems are better than others. Under some circumstances, plants growing on pastures will accumulate carbon under the ground, through the expansion of their root systems and the laying down of leaf litter. But the claims of people such as Savory and Harvey are “dangerously misleading”. The evidence supporting additional carbon storage through the special systems these livestock crusaders propose (variously described as “holistic”, “regenerative”, “mob”, or “adaptive” grazing) is weak and contradictory, and suggests that if there’s an effect at all, it is small.

     As the final argument crumbles, we are left facing an uncomfortable fact: animal farming looks as incompatible with a sustained future for humans and other species as mining coal.’

       Synthetic meat will be as popular as synthetic milk and synthetic bread and synthetic cheese other wise known as plastic food. The most sensible thing New Zealand could do is look improving all grass farming techniques and reducing stocking rates. This will of course put the shits up Fonterra and all the other suit and tie execs in Auckland but it might help with the astronomical levels of debt most farmers find themselves in lately.

         +100 RC new strains of grass need to be breed but not the bull shit strains like high sugar and all of the new strains that make claims that in real world don’t stand up to the tests of time and all the farmers that used these fancy new strains had to re sow after one drought . These people selling these new strain say a longer root system is more drought resistance but there is no humus deep down so the plant waste energy growing these root systems and all of that growth would have been growing leaf IE feed in the fact of physics one can not get some thing for nothing ie plant growth without water not going to happen I have my theory but to much information to explain .
         We need grass resistant to insects and all other organism that attack them .And be able to bounce back from stress ie drought all the factors that put stress on the grass and have 80 percent of it growth vigour that the grass had when new .
         The best way to improve farm productivity is drill new grass seed every 3 years Ka Pai

           Yep but the cows are the prawns the real problem is the barbie or the people with such an insatiable desire for money and things that they even ruin the land and water to get it. And I’m not talking about little herds and modest runs.

   With the Pike River families front and centre at parliament and the Supreme Court today I couldn’t help thinking about how adamant John Key was, just last year, that there would be no re-entry and that the Pike River case was closed. It seems a million years since he was prime minister and it’s hard to think what, if anything, will be his legacy.

   Well then. Boy in blue told today that they know 100% it was Judith Collins’ Oravida that smashed the pipeline and they have have been ordered to let it go without prosecution. And they are pissed about it. It did go kind of quiet very quickly.

   New government will sort this ?

   In the meantime Bennett has lawyered up so heavily no-one can breathe a word about why but she has ensured extreme discomfort and brute uniformed force terror on those who dared to challenge her ….. and we still have the mystery of Double Dippy’s lies to the House re texts about Barclay.

   Such a lovely group we have representing us. Please, let this weekend’s results deliver us from the vileness.

     Boy in blue told today that they know 100% it was Judith Collins’ Oravida that smashed the pipeline and they have have been ordered to let it go without prosecution.

     If that is true then the police are conniving with the Nats to pervert the course of justice. Even if they are acting on “orders” from above, that is a criminal act and many heads will fall when the truth is revealed as it most surely will sooner or later.

       Absolutely, Anne. Applies to the three separate situations. They must be hoping to stay in power to maintain their dirty secrets. I sincerely hope Winston has all the details. Personally, I think these stories guarantee us left wing decisions through the next week !
