It's like Ardern didn't get the warning this was how it was going to play out.

It's inspiring that they managed to do it peacefully and without it turning bad.

How would it work here? Would we go to the protest and stop any more of the convoy's utes etc coming in?

The police have asked that the cars be moved to the Stadium. I guess we will find out if they are being reinforced. Not all the convoy people have parked around the protest. There are some, mainly campervans, in the carparks around/near Te Papa.

Great result by the Ottawans ? Is that what residents of Ottawa are called?

No idea how it would work here – apparently much of the result was that the clownvoy over there were genuinely surprised that the locals wanted them to piss off. Gave a window of surprise to capitalise on.

The government and the police don't seem to realise how angry NZers are with these protesters. I can see something similar happening in NZ if this stalemate situation continues – people taking matters into their own hands.

Most of the protesters seem beyond rational thought so dialogue is a waste of time. And all the while they are likely spreading Covid far and wide.

And btw, while I’m not too sure of his chosen solutions, I say think-you to Mallard for at least making an effort to get rid of the idiots.

Pretty much everyone I've talked to over the past few days, fellas at Friday beers, the folk gathered around a friend I farewelled at home, the mower shop bloke, the vege shop ladies, is over their arrogant petulance.

Thank you Anne – my thoughts too. The sanitary conditions there must by now be getting a bit dire and the less than charitable side of me is thinking – well, not very charitable thoughts. I was reading a tweet today posted by a Wellington Cathedral parishioner, perhaps a chorister that one of the short of stature female clergy marched out to the protesters and told them in no uncertain terms to clear some of their cars out of the car park for their elderly parishioners to park their cars, which they did straight away. Yesssss – you go girl.

Boy do I have some things to say about this tomorrow but I'll leave with this one:

Anne, good to hear your views. Re Trevor Mallard – someone I know told me she has never liked him, but thought he at least tried to do something to move the protesters on. Someone else whose son-in-law is in the police, was critical of the police's weak response. They had one day of fronting up to the protesters then shuffled off. Everyone I know doesn't mind protests but are appalled these protesters are behaving like a rabble and getting away with it.

The protesters are responsible for creating mayhem in the central city, doing whatever they please, using the railway station toilets, having awful sanitation and hygiene standards, spitting at an innocent mask wearer, exposing themselves and children to possibly getting Covid or dysentery or pneumonia, causing the university health clinic to be closed down – and so it goes on and on. They have no right at all to be causing all that mayhem while at the same time talking about their rights.

It has been said that the civilised among them walked away from the protest days ago. While I have no truck with their views, at least some of them had a line in the sand beyond which they would not go.

What Trev should have done is play Brahms’ lullabies for a few hours and once they were all asleep the police could have gone in and picked them up one by one. 😈
