Great work from Unite Union, recovering historical underpayment for already low-paid employees:

    Unions are great for workers!

I guess that's the end of the South Island complacency about weird wind weather events.

I think we are heading for a crash due to unrealistic expectations. Will the US taxpayer bail out an insolvent IT currency issuer ?

Not sure if someone wants to take this a little further and expand it into a post down track, as I’m a one eyed pirate atm due to a injury is sustained today. It’s my master eye aka my left one

I found this interesting piece on China over at Defencetalk.com which might be over interest to you and it’s tad Australia centric but it stills applies to NZ as it’s economy, Defence, Sth Pacific Aid etc is tried to Australia at the same time. Most importantly it also mentions the Antarctic/ Southern Ocean Region which is going to be the nexts “Grey Zone” similar to what is currently going on in the Sth China Sea

https://www.defencetalk.com/military/posts/355179/ there is a 60mins link in that post along with a few other links

My sympathies. I'm losing sight in my left eye as I get older. You can't fight genetics. Whatever you want to do, do it now while you can.

    "Plural policing ?"

'Policing' is increasingly falling to private security and citizen-led initiatives. Yet the wages and the training don't match the responsibility. So what can we do?
