Richard Long, Fairfax’s in-house media adviser to the National Party, recycles an old line in today’s DomPost.
Today it’s “honest John”.
Two years ago, just before he was rolled, we posted how it was “honest Don looking like Mr Magoo”.
“Honest” John’s starting to look like “honest” Don.
The current rise of populism challenges the way we think about people’s relationship to the economy. We seem to be entering an era of populism, in which leadership in a democracy is based on preferences of the population which do not seem entirely rational nor serving their longer interests. ...
The server will be getting hardware changes this evening starting at 10pm NZDT.
The site will be off line for some hours.
We have picked up that he touches his nose when he lies in the house. Maybe he is checking to see if it is growing. And he really really hates to be told.
Why don’t you give him a punch Trev, that’s more your style isn’t it.
Heh, funny funny funny.
I remember that Helen hated to be reminded about her speeding ticket, fraudulent paintings, and the sponsorship of Owen Glenn. That was funny too, Trev.
Oh, and what are these lies he has been telling? Wanna link through to some Hansard quotations to back that up, or is this just you scoring unwarranted points in the “free hit” zone that is the standard?
Waiting for the press release to back that call up too, Trev, otherwise I’ll assume that you’re still the intellectually dishonest, assaulting hypocrite that I always thought you were.
John will never out do the big Helen lie.
Almost every time he is questioned by journalists about something
in his past his “as far as I can recall’ statements eventually have
to be significantly modified. Examples are with his recollection of when he resigned from his Forex job at Elders – apparently he told the media that he left in 1987, but actually left in June 1988. There seem to have been numerous other occasions in the last year, and in particular that interview with Fran Mould and the visit of Ashcroft, or just when he (or his family trust) owned shares in Transrail, then there was the interview with Hoskins about what he said to the President, and yesterday what he said about previous knowledge of rumours around “Harry Worth”, and now the flight discrepancies – the man appears reluctant to tell things straight first time up.
Man I bet that gets him every time Trev – you lot just live on the edge – crazy crazy
But hey at least we all know that when you get a bit of jip in the house it’s all taken in good humour eh. Hows the new lady anyways?
Many years ago, when Richard Long was editor of the Dominion – I sent a fax in which I referred to him as Mr Magoo. So I knew, when he called Don Brash Mr Magoo, that he knew what I meant.
Where’s the bit at the bottom explaining who Richard Long is?
Come on Stuff, you can do better.
richard long… once he was a relatively respected journalist, however now he is unable to see where being an employee/contractor for the national party ends and being a journalist for a major newspaper begins…
Long may have been respected by his relatives, but everyone else who worked with him, including me, thought he was a twerp….
Surely one of the more damning is the Crosby/Textor denial.
The eight minute phone call, carelessly forgotten.
And we still don’t know why Worth was sacked/resigned!
Red Rosa: (imagine Bolger saying it) Confidence. Pin the tail on The johnkey has lost confidence.
Sure has.
